    Hello Everyone,

We are excited to announce that COMODO Internet Security 8.0.332922.4281 Beta is ready for your review.

Thank you very much for your cooperation and support during the BETA testing! Thanks to your feedback and the excellent work of our teams worldwide, we have addressed 120+ bugs and several improvements over the last CIS 7.0 release. You can see a selected set of these in release notes section below.

    What's new in 8.0.332922.4281?

    New

    Policy based automatic-sandboxing
    • Ability to create automatic sandboxing rule based on various parameters such as file reputation, file origin, file source etc
    • New default auto-sandboxing policy which is fine-tuned to isolate risky unknown applications
    Hardware virtualization support
    • When Intel VT-x or AMD SVM Virtualization extensions are available, Enhanced Protection Mode makes use of these technologies and CIS operates at hypervisor level
    Extended Logging
    • CIS can now send security and configuration events to Windows Event Logs

    Improved

    Viruscope
    • Viruscope is now enabled by default, monitors more activities and works on sandboxed applications as well as not sandboxed ones
    • Viruscope performance is improved

    User Interface
    • The advanced settings window has been redesigned to provide a better layout

    Fixed

We have addressed many issues reported by our users in this release. Here are a selected few
    • Enabling Viruscope causes file sharing violations
    • Killing certain malware can cause BSOD
    • Certain keyloggers can sniff keyboard while sandboxed as partially limited
    • Office 2013 documents downloaded from the Internet sometimes cannot be opened inside sandbox
    • Microsoft Outlook cannot receive email inside sandbox
    • Multiple issues exploited by malware to bypass certain protections
    • Firewall blocks fragmented UDP traffic even if this option is disabled
    • Incompatibility between Cisco Anyconnect Mobile VPN and COMODO Firewall

    What needs to be tested?

The most important feature of this BETA in policy based Automatic-Sandboxing. So the most valuable bugs are the REPRODUCIBLE bugs which are related to system stability issues, compatibility issues, and crashes.

You are more than welcome to test all other features as well.

    Bug Reports

Please post all bug reports & BSOD's in the Beta section of the forum. The required format is given here:

It may be that bugs are counted one-by-one (even UI bugs). So this 120+ would rather be normal for all AVs that release new versions. They just don't mention it this way.
What they do is similar to
    * General stability fixes (covers tens of fixes or so).

Installed and looking promising this far :)

The list of few selected issues fixes really verifies that CIS is a broken software.

Any news on the true BB they have planned to implement? They promised to have it in v7 and yet we still aren't seeing it anywhere.

That "broken" software was the only one to defend against "spy/surveillance" specialist software from Germany.

    0-day exploits.
As for bug fixing, standard practice, shows Comodo does really care about it's users and tries to improve itself. No software is without bugs.

No. Because this is only a begining, and upgrade to an existing platform, and preparation for a new antivirus engine + viruscope tight integration + more tight sandbox, I expect a controlled flood of bug reporting that should be resolved for a majority on a release day, with non-critical on a "first come first serve", or depending on the severity of the issue.

Honestly, this looks like a good start and so far it performs well with Comodo 8 Beta + Baidu PC Faster Beta on VMWare.
Then I shall try out Comodo 8 Beta + Advanced System Care Beta.

What do you want to show with the links? there is no a single mention to COMODO

I don't see really new relevant features in this version, it looks like it's more about release a next big version for the new year.

I wonder if out of all fixes they managed to fix the dreaded "file not found" error when submitting files to their cloud. It's now what, second year of this bug existing and when i tried CIS like 2 months ago, the same bug was still present.

Really, is it so difficult to fix this file submission? This feature would increase Comodo detection. Malware1 at MT could create
CAMAS Uploader and Comodo couldn't do anything yet?

Ops, I did it, but it looks like I had "match case" active so I didn't found it when I did the search with "como"

Just because limited number of people have this issue does not mean it's a worldwide epidemic. Let us just wait and see what will happen....

This appears to be a better fit for either the anti-virus or sandboxing and virtualization forums.

How is a "limited" number of people when their backend is broken? Don't tell me out of thousands of users i'm always among those where it is failing. That would be just insane from the statistical perspective...

    I'm saying that because:
    a) It's a BETA, even if their infrastructure may/is fixed, it might still be transport issues within the program itself. So it is expected something not to work on a first public beta.
    b) Reported number of submission not working in this beta is still at low number. So it can be assumed either it is working, or not, but it is not definitive yet.
    c) I acknowledge you still having submission issues is a reason of grave concern and should be given top/high priority, and confirmation from the dev team that they are working on it, I respect that, let's see if the problem grows. I will do the test myself from my side this weekend, and if I am affected too, I will create a topic in the BETA forum of Comodo to see how many people are affected with the BETA regarding submission failure.

I trust this should be OK with you?

Reports grow? They banned me when i reported it and questioned their competence after 1 year of not being fixed at all. And yet, here we are, 2 years later and the bug is still there. Are you going to wait for the 5 years mark or the 10 years one, hoping they'll finally get enough reports (assuming they don't ban everyone who question their clear incompetence)?

    1-3 months should be enough.
We shall see if I have to submit bug report according to template.

I care not. It's pointless if the software is unusable.

CIS has more bugs than any of other security software tough.

Ok, submit them bug report. If they listen to you then I guess not only me will be grateful to you. They just ditched my bug reports.
