I did notice that. I should try to export the settings and then import them after the next update to see how that will work.

If you have any kind of issues it's best not to import settings as it keeps other info so the problems could continue. So users with issues this the info I give them:

Did you ever contact support to get your files Whitelisited? If not the (WIN) Cloud Network classified them automatically!

    Thanks,

    Daniel :)

Once I had a discussion here on Wilders with Joe regarding the WRData folder. As it usually takes forever for the cloud to determine if a (rare) monitored file is good or bad, a trigger in the cloud could be implemented to take a closer look at a client when the size of a WRData folder pass a certain size.
I do not know if anything came out of that, but it sure would make things simpler for the users.
Sure users in here use support ticket and what not to white or blacklist files, but the average Joe just do not care, they do not even know a file is monitored = WRData folder grows.

By the way TH, do you have any info on Joe? Is he still in the company?

    /E

I found this written on glassdoor.com by an anonymous current employee of Webroot:

"Our principle developer left. Our chief product manager left. People are saying this is a good thing but ive met the new team and they're in for a surprise. There is nothing being worked on. It's taking weeks for small suggestions to be made. No one knows the code or how to work on it and they won't let other teams help with the code. There is no QA anymore and no product direction. Morale sucks almost as bad as sales. But we have a ping pong table in the office so that makes it all ok!"

So if Joe is the "principle developer" mentioned above, he has left the company.

    Thanks,

Joe has indeed left to go work at a new company, but he is still helping out the dev team with issues as needed. I've met the team that's taking over his position, and I'm confident that they know what they are doing. From my perspective, morale isn't an issue. There have been some changes in the QA organization recently, but that process is mostly complete and things are settling into place The ping pong table comment is true though :)

It's actually a big secret - he isn't telling anyone. But he'll still check in on his baby and make sure it is growing up well in the care of others :)

Joe can't tell anyone not even Webroot or myself as I did asked him at the time but he did tell me that WSA is in good hands and I was reassured by the Executive Management Team as I got to talk to them all during a meeting during my visit that was unexpected. LOL

    Thanks,

    Daniel :)

Oh right thanks. :D So I guess you don't even know if he's still in the IT Sec Software business or if he have moved to something totally different...like a cashier on Walmart ? Or if he's still in the Colorado area? :)

Thanks for the news, Nic and TH, about change of developers, departure of Joe :( but that all is apparently still well :). I'd love to know what new project Joe's up to now. I expect we'll find out in due course.

Speaking of which, you were inviting contributions from us, Nic, in a couple of threads here and here about ideas for revamping the Community Webroot Forum pages. You were saying that you were in the process of simplifying the Forum layout.

That was back in May, but no changes as yet... Is this hopefully still in the pipeline? If so, do you have any idea when this might materialise?

Personally, I do find the Webroot Community Forum difficult and cumbersome to navigate and would certainly greatly appreciate a revamp (I have already contributed my thoughts on this).

    Hopefully...

Sad, since it was his baby and he was there from the beginning and it's never good when such a "captain" figure leaves the bridge. You have to stay positive, however if the above is true then what we feared when Webroot took over might be happening. :(

Just bought a new 3 year code, wish i had seen this before buying. It will be interesting to see how the 2015 will shape up

I did ask Joe and he said it's nothing to do with Security and a once in a lifetime opportunity and he's happy so we should be happy for him and like Nic said if an issue arises Joe will still look at his baby he is such a genius! I will ping Joe to see if he would come by to say hello but don't bother asking where he's gone to. LOL

Also the morale is so horrible sorry to say:

I've started on the project, so let me give you an update on what has changed so far:
    1. Simplifying the structure - I've decided to do this one gradually, so I've been removing underperforming forums one at a time. So far I've collapsed the business and consumer security news forums into one forum, and remove the Tips & Tricks forum. I'll probably remove about a half dozen more to make the structure simpler
    2. Revamping the homepages - I've made some changes to the consumer homepage to make things easier to find, like the Ask a Question widget, and the Featured Topics:
    https://community.webroot.com/t5/Home/ct-p/consumer
I'm working on a more cosmetic change as well, but functionally I've started removing things that aren't as necessary, and trying to highlight the important stuff. I still have a few more things to do, like a list of recent topics just about webroot issues/releases, and an easy way to get back to topics that you've started. Those aren't built in widgets on the Lithium platform, so I have to do a bit of custom work to get those created.

It'll be an ongoing process, so keep coming back and checking in periodically, and I'll let you guys know about changes as we go too.

Great! Sounds like you're working like a beaver.

Once again, I'd like to emphasise how useful I'd peronally find it if you were able to:
    1. ringfence all the Tech News and Security News sections into a dedicated and separate group so that, when choosing All Topics, you can either choose All Topics related to Webroot products (suggestion: this to be default choice), or All Topics related to Tech and Security News: thus avoiding the Security and Tech News topics completely drowning out the WSA Product topics.
    2. sort the All Topics window, as with this Forum, by date of which topics have had the most recent input rather than by date of when the topic was first opened: thus allowing us, at a glance, to see which topics have been most recently contributed to.
    My two cents worth...

Yep, that's the plan, that just takes a little more work to accomplish. In the meantime I'll continue to feature just Webroot related topics in the Featured Topics section.

I'll have to check and see if that sort option is available for the all topics section. I think it is, but I'll check.

i REALLY hope they dont change activations and become "regional" now like some others have done. i have MANY boxed copies i have bought for my shop and i hope they dont make it so i cant use them down the line. i got a great deal from a legit source who i did check with joe on before buying them. that would be my only issue and if they start throwing all kinds of extra junk in there like everyone else seems to be doing.

otherwise i really hope all is well with joe and the change works out for him! maybe he will pop in here at some point to say hi??

and please keep working on the forum it needs the help. i dont even like going over there i just find it a mess the way it was. i just hate kudos forums myself but is it can become a much simpler layout imo it would help A LOT of people. so many clients of mine said they went there and left in minutes because it was just far to confusing. and i have around 400+ that run webroot.
