Hi, I've done some searching in the Forum, but haven't been able to find any references to the problem I'm experiencing. I am running a Windows 7 64 bit PC and have saved an image of my C: (system) drive onto a spare drive. A few days ago I needed to recover the C: drive. I was able to boot the PC normally and run Paragon Hard Disk Manager Suite (10.1.21.471) to successfully do the recovery. In the process I got rid of several serious, (self inflicted!), problems with Windows 7. I then proceeded to take out more insurance and used Paragon Recovery Media Builder to create a bootable thumb drive using the Windows option. On testing the thumb drive worked fine. It booted the system and displayed the Paragon Express screen, but I couldn't access it - I had no keyboard or mouse capability! I use a wireless keyboard and mouse, so I thought that that might be the problem. So I plugged in a wired keyboard and wired mouse, let Windows install the appropriate drivers, then rebooted. Then I re-created the the Recovery files on the thumb drive and re-tested. Same result - no keyboard or mouse. I also tried the Linux option in Paragon Recovery Media Builder. Ticking both boxes did give me keyboard and mouse capability, but I couldn't work out how to recover the C: drive image. Linux seemed to offer only file recovery. Maybe that is the way I need to go, but I thought I better ask for some help before I got myself into more bother! Any suggestions on the best way to go in this situation? Thanks, Noel
Maybe the BIOS doesn´t enable the USB ports in which the keyboard and mouse are plugged. Try using other ports, preferably located in the back of the computer if it is a desktop. To restore an image from the Linux boot medium: in the disk map, select the partition you want to restore > right click > Restore Partition... > select the archive (image) and follow the instructions. Another way: select the Wizards tab > Restore Wizard..
Hi Robin, Thanks for your suggestions. I have found that the Linux restoration Thumb Drive actually works with my wireless keyboard and mouse without the need to resort to the wired ones. This is what I need, so I haven't tried again with the Windows Restoration version. I tried using Wizards > Restore Wizard, but that seemed to get me to the same place I got to previously. It was still asking me for a file name and talking about an archive file. I'm not sure what that is. (I obviously need to read more of the manual!) In my case I have an image of my system drive on another hard drive, and in the case of a restoration where I'm unable to boot Windows normally, I would want to copy the contents of that drive back onto my system drive. So I tried Wizards > Copy Hard Drive. That seemed very similar to what I did when I did a restoration last week. (But in that case I had booted Windows normally and used Paragon Hard Drive Manager from the Windows environment.) I went all the way through to the end of Copy Hard Drive, except that I didn't click 'Finish' - I don't want to repeat the restoration again at this stage. Can you confirm that I'm on the right track and that if I had clicked 'Finish' it would have restored my system drive in the same way that I did last week? Ultimately I want to clone my system drive onto DVDs that I can store off site. Is that is where the archive file comes in? Thanks, Noel
