Yeah, there's a ton of news sites parroting it now: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=google twitch# (Click "News")

The only reason Twitch/Google keep declining to comment must be some legalities of a non disclosure agreement.

I'm wondering how games such as AudioSurf (which requires music to play) or even games with third party, multiple licensed soundtracks like the radio stations in GTA games will be handled.

Really? I thought Twitch has been bought by Google already. This might be good, since Google is being a jerk in this video streaming business. Only thing is missing is HTML5, they seem to be working on it.

Mute the audio mercilessly like YouTube.

Twitch is alright if you want to just stream a game for friends. I never the got the cult following the LP/streamer bunch can get though, especially with the types making more than what most day jobs would pay.

But much like Youtube has found, there's more money to be made with quantity of minutes watched vs. quality. You can show more ads watching someone play a game for 12 hours than you can if they can created a 3 minute animated video.

Is it really only for live streaming and live LPs though? I mean, can I upload my STG replays that I managed to do off-screen?

I wonder how quick they will earn the 1 billion dollar back. :)

If they spam ads all over the place like YouTube/Google does, not for long. :D

To be honest I still don´t understand and don´t even believe that companies like Google, Facebook and LinkedIn are making so much money with simple ads. Ads that I don´t even see or look at most of the time. :)

Oh believe me, Google is everywhere lol. And most home PC users don't block ads, so their revenues are sufficient enough to be called "profitable".

I was reading their FAQs, and apparently I only can do live streaming there. How sad.
