    Hi,

    Some information.

The next BETA version comes with installer.. ("next", "next", "next" and done). ;)
Shortcut will be created automatically so user is able to start program via desktop shortcut.
Main executable will be in Program Files\Crystal Security\ and program is listed under Add/Remove programs list (for easy removal).

There is a portable version as well as the addition.

    Regards,
    Kardo

Hi Kardo I remember you having a program to just scan your computer and remove malware is that still available? The reason I ask this is because I would like to have a scanner and remover with no realtime protection because I clean my friends/families pc(s).
    Thanks,
    Malwar

    @Malwar

    Hello,

    Thank you for your interest.

You probably mean product called Crystal X.
Crystal X is already integrated into main product called Crystal Security.
As I see you just like to use program without active protection.. Maybe I can help you.

You can download current version of Crystal Security and disable Active protection completely under settings:
Settings -> Enable protection (just uncheck this option and press Apply).
All active protection methods should be disabled. Now just click on Checkup (left menu).
Checkup checks your computer (just like traditional computer scan).

Please let me know if you need anything else. Comments and feedback are welcome. :)

    Regards,
    Kardo

Thank you for you help but I was wondering if you could make a portable version with all of the realtime protection stripped, if it would be to much trouble do not worry about it. Thanks, Malwar

    Hi,

At the moment there is no plan for a separate version.. sorry.. one of the best tool I can recommend for you is HitmanPro (without realtime protection).

    Regards,
    Kardo

    Hi Kardo,

It has been awhile since I was last looking at your software. I had moved on, because things change, and there had been a halt in development.

But, you have released a portable version, and this has given me the opportunity to test.

However, I have run into the problem, that after the UI opens, when I click on settings, nothing happens.

The computer freezes. I had to force a reboot.

This has happened twice, now. First time, I was running it from a USB stick, and the second time, from the desktop.

@Tarnak Thank you for the feedback.

    Some questions for you:

    1. Your operating system: Windows XP 32-bit?
    2. Is it possible that other security software is blocking Crystal Security?

After the first launch you should see About information (must click OK to close it): http://crystalsecurity.eu/images/3.5_beta/about.png

I am not sure but maybe it is related to processes detection. It is upgraded and requires Admin privileges to work properly. Can you please check your AppData folder, can you find Crystal Security and related data files.

Maybe it is time to set up Windows XP in VM.. let's see. :p I hope that your reported issue will be solved.

    Regards,
    Kardo

Webroot information is funny because Start with Windows option is disabled by default.
Thank you for the screenshots! I see a lot of different security software.. :D Maybe this is the case..

Thanks Tarnak! :) - Yeah, you have so many filters :D, as you can see Crystal Security is trying to connect to VirusTotal.
Also Internal database is in use, it means two results for each file. First result from Internal database and the second one from VT service via API.
I added also digital signature check so it is possible to automatically whitelist signed files without any further analysis (better performance).

    Regards,
    Kardo
