If they would make Windows based bootable Emsisoft, with basic repair tools included, I would not mind paying $500 a year.

Faster scanning and an updated a2engine. :thumb: Thanks!!

I think I'm finally getting used to the big featureless nGUI* - mono-color rectangles, barely none of all that nasty text...
Not (!) to be misconstrued as slam on Emsisoft. Like they had a choice.

    *non-Graphical User Interface

    Cheers.

The HiJackFree and BlitzBlank never seem to get the love of the new GUI designs though.

    Isn't HiJackFree abandoned?

It seems to be still included along with good ol' BlitzBlank. I'm not sure if HiJackFree is still also included in the latest version of EAM, it used to be (at least it was still included in v7 IIRC).

The installer doesn't create shortcuts in the Programs menu?

Anyways, just found it seems to be incompatible with Panda free AV.
EEK just hangs when I do an update.
Don't know if it's a known issue though.

Is this every time you try to update or the first update after install?

    Indeed.
When the installer is executed on a hard drive, it could create shortcuts though.

Edit: just realized it created a shortcut on the desktop! :)

The "still also included in the latest version of EAM" part or the "it was still included in v7 IIRC" part? If it's the later, I'm quite sure it was there (look at EAM's start menu folder).

I actually got similar issue with previous versions, but it usually back to normal a few seconds after the update is finished and the new database is loaded.

I understand what you mean, but it's a complete hang, and waiting doesn't help.
I actually had to add EEK to Panda's exclusions to have it work normally.

All kinds of issues with it. Multiple error messages. I'll elaborate more on it later when I am done disinfecting this customers PC.

It's nice but 174 MB for a second opinion malware scanner is too much ... Less is more, sorry. :thumbd:

I prefer large definitions database for on demand scanner. That way my system is checked against large set of malware. 100 MB of disk space is not big deal for me.

HiJackFree has been discontinued and is no longer supported, it will be removed from all our
products as they are updated. I respectfully ask that no one link users to a download for
HiJackFree, even if we still have a product available that has HiJackFree as part of the product.

Since EEK and EAM both updated their GUI's I wonder if Online Armor will be next?

Will be next of what? Will be next of being discontinued?

Anyway, from what you all have said and referenced EEK seems to will only have these three components:
    - Scanner GUI
    - Scanner CLI
    - BlitzBlank

Thats why I prefer bootable scanners. When computer is infected its usually slow, blocked-locked and it takes a lot of time to find a way how to start EEK (safe mode with networking, command prompt etc...)

I ran Dr Web, Hitman Pro, Malwarebytes, and Panda cloud...was able to uninstall quite a few things and then get EEK to work after that. It did find a few thing still but I believe they were remnants. Did not have issues with it once the PC was pretty much clean, but was still looking for second opinions (ran a few other scanners too for good measure).

I agree with this as well. Exorbitantly longer. It's hard for me to judge because I never need to run stuff like this on my own PC's (which are fast)...but it's normally on someones laptop, which I really don't know how fast it is.

I've had an outright deluge of brand new Dell laptops that came with McAfee trial that had expired. McAfee had windows defender disabled (Windows 8.1), and McAfee itself wasn't protecting the pc because it was expired.... so the PC was loaded down with malware. Of course, most of the problems on the PC I see are excessive amounts of PUP.
