At last. Patch Tuesday was pretty outdated name and it sounded like from stone age. The new name describes much better the purpose of updates.

If they plan to release "New features" every month, I hope that we will get some advance notification about them also. I wouldn't like some new features randomly appearing after each monthly update.

This won't be good. You have vendors complaining that they can't keep up with browser plugins for Firefox every 6 weeks (Kaspersky comes to mind). Wait until they have to keep up with Windows updates every 4.

I doubt there will be many feature updates.
Cant see them being monthly or more frequent either.

How many features did that "ultimate version" of vista or 7 (cant remember) which promised new features/downloads actually have?

I remember early on when it started there was very few.
    Did it improve?

Does this mean that hotfixes that usually would be included in a service pack will now be included on Update Tuesdays?

All these updates and shuffling of the schedule tells me microsoft products are too buggy, and they don't know what they're doing - so say many non-technical people I converse with.

When MS releases new OS version they more or less stop adding features to previous version. It will probably be the same with Windows 8 and 9. After Windows 9 comes out, new features in Windows 8 will stop...

He's specifically referring to the "Ultimate Extras" which were exclusive post-release features released to owners of the Ultimate edition of Vista: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Ultimate_Extras.

Whatever they call it, I certainly hope they continue to periodically release updated ISOs, even if they're nothing more than a bunch of updates rolled in.

MS is either renaming, relocating, removing or reinstating something of late. I sure would like MS to reevaluate a W7, SP2 (on ISO).

That's the thing. I don't care if they never release another actual service pack; just make an updated ISO available, and it doesn't have to be on a physical disc. A yearly release for download would be great.

I can't remember the last service pack I installed (as in, installed on top of a working OS). I think it was XP SP2.

There hasn't appeared to anything major from today's Update Tuesday That's not to say MS may add non-important items like Bing Toolbar and the like, in future patches - be on the lookout for things you would not normally want on your PC.

(answering my own question) Yes; they have been included in the update rollups.
