Microsoft renames Patch Tuesday - "Update Tuesday".
This has met with some skepticism in security circles as to what these new features will be and how it will impact home users that have Update Tuesday set on Automatic :isay:

All patched less Microsoft MRT as it essentially phones home to MS on a monthly basis.

You should run the tool, just the same.

On a PC with Win7 with SP1 installed if got SP1 offered, and it's also just 2MB.
    2 other PC's didn't get that.

I see you have the weird SP1 update as well.

I did not get the mysterious SP1 2MB update. I installed all the security updates first (minus NET and IE updates) and system explorer crashed on reboot.

I've found good results with Windows Support on Twitter - for those that are socially inclined.
They are responsive to your needs and issues.

After update I have lost my network connectivity twice already. Image restore has saved me for a day or two. Now I guess I'll have to restore a 20140812 image and installed only trouble-free updates.

I have uninstalled all of the updates listed as bad by various websites. After removing them, Windows Update still prompts me to reinstall KB2976897. All of the rest of them have been pulled. I have disabled automatic updates and will install none of them until they have been properly reviewed and fixed.

    Theories for Unreliable Microsoft Patches

Each month during Microsoft's regularly scheduled patch cycle, reports circulate of at least
one (most times more than one) update failing, or having to be recalled, leading to fixes and
rereleases. In the end, IT organizations are becoming more afraid of Microsoft's patches than
they are of Windows 8 in the enterprise.

There's a long list of theories that have been proposed as reasons behind the degrading patch
    quality. They are:

Testing an update in house against representative user system configurations can produce a successful return code. MS is not delusional, they know that the general release is in fact a large scale test. Errors/failures are expected. There are too many variables out there to expect otherwise. To avoid being a mauled or a dead LAB-RAT turn off auto updates. Unfortunately, those who are unaware that they have agreed to be a software tester will pay the price for those who have not. Any IT organization that is ignorant of this is inept. Critical security updates will carry a more urgent response, but there is still no reason to be the first rat to take the bait.

Even though it seemed that the old patch did not cause any problems on my WIN 7 machine I decided to uninstall the old patch and install the new one.

I didn't make an image right before doing this.

But it seems that the startup sequence of my machine is a bit slower now.

Has anyone else experienced this ?
