Yesterday I posted that Bullguard IS was being sold at 75% discount.

I received the offer through as email.

The offer had seemed totally legit, since I was on their mailng list from having tried a trial version a few years ago. I do not recall ever having purchased it. The email came from what clearly appears from their domain name.

At the top of the email was a link to the offers' online page. I clicked on it so I could share it here. It also appears to be a legit Bullguard page with what appears to be to be within the legitimate Bull Guard domain name, THAT IS THE LINK THAT I POSTED HERE!

This morning I received an email thanking me for purchasing Bullguard IS for 12.79 pounds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The address of the email came from the typical "no-reply@email.bullguard.com

It had an invoice number, but gave no info as to what account of mine they charged it to but I have only one credit card, which I have not yet checked.

To the best of my knowledge and memory I never provided them with any account info, and even If I had that account was cancelled by me. I wanted to post this immediately, and have noy checked with mt CC company. But it's a Londased Based Co. and some of them use one of the "World-Wide-Payment services whose charges to your credit account do not appear for several days.

I still don't know what the deal is but will investigate it.

I am so sorry and offer the sincerest of my apologies for having posted a link to what appeared to be a Legitimate BullGuard page

The site is legitimate. Your link is the issue. That was just someone purchasing it.

I have this afternoon had conversations with BullGuard via online chat about this issues.

First, BullGuard has a no-questions asked 30-day money back guarantee. This is all inclusive and includes, among other things an immediate refund of any sums charged to your credit card for a subscription you did not order whether or not you actually received a license, or a refund for any subscription you paid for but did not receive a license for , and of course general dissatisfaction with the product,or actually for any reason specified or not.

We had a further lengthy conversation respecting how this may have occurred. In any event, if, during this particular discount offer, you are charged for a Bullguard license that you did not order, whether or not you actually received the license , or ordered and were charged for a Bullguard license that you did not receive, and do not receive a refund from Bullguard by contacting Bullguard within 30 days of your order, please send me a PM.

I've sent you two PMs and two emails about this but had no replies from you, hence this message now. Don't you understand that this happened because I ordered a copy of Bullguard from the link you posted and that the reg key and acknowledgement were sent to your email address that was embedded into your link. My email address was changed to yours during the order process without me knowing and I had no idea that your email address was there until the transaction confirmation page came up - after I'd paid for it.

I've asked you by email to forward the key to me but no reply from you. Paypal have acknowledged my payment so I'm mystified how you have managed to obtain a refund from Bullguard and cancel the order! If this is the case, I haven't seen a refund to my account yet

Please, out of courtesy, just reply to me. My messages seem to be disappearing into thin air.

Basically hawki, this occurred because YOU accidentally shared a link that was customized and 'linked' to your account. Clive T pointed this out in the other thread, apparently he figured this out after the fact. It only occurred because you copy and pasted the link from the email that was tailored to your account without realizing it. A simple and apparently harmless mistake that only alarmed you (Clive T seems to be the one actually losing here.) because they sent the emails for the confirmations and key to YOU rather than him. HE paid for it, but clicked your personalized link which you shared here and thus bullguard thought it was you. (automated systems grr) I don't see any harm or foul here as long as bullguard does refund Clive T's account but for now he's paid for something and received nothing. Shoot him a msg and help him sort out his end :p

The link you posted had an emailid= basically their customer number for you I would guess, followed by a unique verification code. As he clicked it,they thought you made the purchase as that unique link was only sent to you.

Can this thread be closed like the other one? I'm tired of seeing this subject in my RSS client.

As noted, the now-squelched URL clearly had &validation= and &email= strings with the latter having a genuine someone's email address. Remove all characters following /?pid=3, refresh, continue and there's yer everyone's order form for the $14.99 deal. Though if the order can actually be completed is for another to discover.

This would be hilarious if it were posted up on some kind of expert security forum. Oh, wait...

CLIVE I HAVE SENT YOU A PM - PLEASE READ.

Clive will not lose a dime.

I have have been attempting to resolve this by extensive chats with Bull Guard most of the afternoon.

There were certain private details about me in his PMs that i did not want to confirm or deny.

That is why I did not respond directly to his PMs and chose to deal directely on his behalf through BullGuard.

It is apparent now that I have no other choice and have done so.

In that PM, for reasons that should be obvious to all of you I have asked that any further discussion of this not be posted in this public forum.

As I mentioned, but then delete from a prior post, in this thread. I am a retired former US Government Attorney who spent a large part of his career as part of an inter-agecy-law enforcement task force related to both domestic and international crimes, that I have personally been a victim of serious crime on two occaisions, that detest so much as a whiff of criminal behavior and that if Bullguard fails to honor its 30-day no questions asked refund policy, among other things, I will not hesitate to contact close former colleagues who are still currently active, for both formal and the preferred "informal" assisstance in this matter.
