is dropbox the best webserice to share big files?

Hi
i use dropbox to upload big files to share with friends and sometime clients

for example i took many photos , they are 36mp or more
and document pdf with image and so on , file with 30 mega
and the files size are too big to use my email to send to them

for now i use dropbox

is there a free alternative to it?

i know only google drive and microsoft skydrive

is there a better webservice?
what do you use?

I use ADrive, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive, and Ubuntu One, only because I had accounts with them made years ago.

 

I use Wuala & Jotta. Wuala usually for me as a back up thing and Jotta as a 2nd back up and for my friends.

Quite old topic, but I made some basic tests which might be of interest.

1. Surdoc: 100GB for free just for the 1st year, then upgrading is mandatory. Eliminated. LOL
2. Shared.com: fine so far, however connection is not HTTPS. I sent them an email to ask why and if it's possible to enable with some settings. Still waiting for their reply.
Possible to upload from mobile but through browser no (at least iOS) app available. There is another downside, for example when uploading photos from phone: all files are named "image.jpg". Quite messy if you upload many.
3. Ozibox: connection not secure as per Shared.com. Still waiting for their reply. Searching on the web, I found some concerns about the company behind it. But maybe that is just some speculation.
No (iOS) mobile app, upload possible via phone's browser.

About security, all mention "secure/encrypted/bla bla" but there are not details on their website.

but why should I trust copy or spideroak ?

Mainstream media has covered a lot of privacy based things, like Tor. You aren't going to find many "indie" grade sort of stuff that's not covered by mainstream.
