"...and discovered the major flaw in 4.9..."

What major flaw are you talking about?

Glad I checked in today, as I had a feeling that I was misinterpreted in a previous post (my fault entirely).

The flaw being discussed was actually in Qihoo Total Security and not in Internet Security. The issue was that in all Qihoo TS builds prior to the 5 beta the Proactive Module was incapable of preventing any sort of auto-run routines from being created. This is (obviously) of extreme importance, the difference being having a persistent threat versus something that will be cleared on restart (the malware file would still remain on the drive somewhere or other, but as it would be orphaned it is of little consequence). This would be especially important if one runs across a trojan of the Winlock variety (like ransomware).

Currently Qihoo IS and Qihoo TS 5 beta are equivalent in protection. Basically just avoid Total Security 4 series. Also, as a sidenote, the keylogger protection of Qihoo has been doing very well.

    Cruel mistake - sister .

Thank you for popping in and clear that up !

Yeah the security set up is the same now in IS and TS but the functionality - no one knows - yet .

    Got a response from Jay@qihoo:

So it is NOT over YET!

I would encourage those still caring for IS to be active in this thread, ask, demand, scream, beg, cry, crawl, scratch and, just be yourself....
Any other questions, I will be happy to forward to them.
Thank you for your patience, people....

Do you really believe that anyone in China cares if you ask, demand, scream?

    Move on!

Yes they give IS 3 - 6 month and then ....... no longer available , they will switch to Total ... then Total will be ready and better... only one computer product, a total product.
(Till now i don't like Total, so that could be a final switch to another vendor for me and no more 360)

Great, so, if it happens, and I say IF, for the decision to shut it down, and even tho I am TS user myself, I stay
and try to fight it, no one will stand side by side, instead, just watch from the distance and see what happens?
I always say, a hero is a fool dying alone, whereas commander is a wise man, crushing everything with
overwhelming force. I see that I am alone on this, regardless, I will play the fool card, just to see how far I can go.
At least I have some intelligence now to work with....

As a side note, on Facebook / 360 Security Center / Forum , there is no answer provided by 360 to ANY QUESTION , IN MORE THAN 2 MONTHS .

So pessimistic, it's depressing, really..... Once it is CONFIRMED that it will be shut down, then go ballistic.
Until then, I will see how I can gather support to keep this thing going. I will think of something tomorrow, until then, sit tight.

Is not about being pessimistic or optimistic, is about something which doesn't make sense:
360IS is a mature , beautiful product with very high performance and reviews ; it would require only minimal maintenance (BD engine is maintained by BD).
However, seems like we are "pushed" towards 360Total Security; doesn't look strange to youo_O
    But maybe is only me...

At the moment, they think TS is superior to IS. And in a way it is. BUT, as long as it is under internal discussion, the decision will not be rushed.
Nevertheless, it is not over yet:
    - the countdown hasn't started yet
    - when the countdown starts, it is not over until it is really over
I am sort of working on it, to have this thing float. Just be patient for a while, I will try to gather support in numbers, to show to Qihoo management...

Yep,They are going to end this product in next 3-6 months and I asked the support about what will happen with the 360 IS users. They said they will be notified to upgrade the TS version.Once TS is fully done they will no longer provide the IS version which is great.

Till the time TS is not fully done with, they will continue supporting 360 IS with DB updates and fixes. So I am looking forward to continue using Internet security product.

Moving forward...I see that BD in 360 IS doesnt lag behind in updates anymore.Awesome!

    As previously said:
It's not yet dead, so it's still receiving AV signature updates, therefore present scores are no indication of future scores.

I would still love if qihoo continues supporting IS.The retirement plan is still under internal discussion. The only thing for sure is that there will be 3~6 month notice on their website.

    Notification: Statement not confirmed
Explanation: It is under internal discussion @ Qihoo HQ, it is not officially confirmed officially.
What is accurate, is that if they decide to end the product, it will be a notification via website...
Even if they announce end-of-life, I will see what I can do to prolong that as much as possible.....

While I wish you a success in doing so I can't imagine how you would be able to do that unless you're a share holder or statutory body. :) If we consider that Qihoo have hundreds of millions of users, there would have to be, say, millions of users who would have to loudly protest against IS withdrawal to persuade them to begin think about it.

I am sure TS will definately be as great as IS.Qihoo definately wants to keep the AV module superior.

From a recent mail chat, they are progressing to make the TS AV module more like IS.Very Exciting!

Once TS is ready,IS will be gone.

How about if I suggest make TS customizable during install, to have like, choose what to install and what not to install?
I am sure it would be agreable to have IS retired and start using TS. Everyone is happy.
I am not a shareholder, statutory body or anything, just a anonymous guy somewhere out there...
I will work with them in finding an acceptable solution. It might not be ideal, but it should work for everyone.

    Yes please.
Ask them to make the facebook login+voting system optional.
To me, they're spamming, but it seems to be the same with their Android security app, that's why I uninstalled it.

Facebook is for braggin rights, to share your system bootup speed on facebook, so facebook friends would see it and check out 360. Marketing. For free, can't really complain.
Voting system is there for the major version release, most wanted features get in on release, it should be gone for that version, and probably implemented for next one, where users would vote what to include next.

I will ask them soon, to make all modules optional during install/upgrade, and when already installed, to have them active/inactive.
I will let you know any response I get.

That's another story. Don't mix apples with pears. I questioned your effort to save IS from abandonment. ;)

I see it is still up there.....
As for the effort, I will do everything I can. I projected chances of me having a success is 45% at best, but it is still better than nothing.
If I can make TS modular, that is, very customizable, then there is no need for IS anymore. TS is just IS with extra stuff + Avira.
As I said, given the current situation, I WILL make sure to come up with not-so-ideal resolution that should benefit everyone involved.
    I am working on it....
