Cyberghost for $9.99

I saw Cyberghost last night on Windows Deals for $9.99/yr. I almost bought it because it was a full year. But then I decided not to because I know nothing about them. And I already have Mullvad, PIA, and Riseup. Does anyone have any thoughts on Cyberghost?

I bought CyberGhost subscription when they offered a deal in the past. I think it costed maybe €5 for 1 year service (great bargain!). I almost never had connection breaks, unlike with AirVPN. And unlike boleh, I was able to find some CyberGhost servers that were not blocked on some sites I use VPN for (the sites blocked all the boleh servers).

At the time I bought it, they did not accept bitcoin, not sure if still not. Also, their support information is not always fully reliable.
When I started my subscription, I had access to many of their servers. Then after a brief time, just few weeks, I could no longer access certain servers like Iceland. I sent several requests to support and received no answers, not even acknowledgmnt I had sent request for help. So I assume it was because they did not give full access or even full support to special promotion subscriptions. But that did not make sense because the subscription was call a full access subscription. Then months later, when I try to get VPN new certificates, the number of servers available on my subscription was even smaller! When I asked why, the support said the number of servers available had not changed at all, which was completely wrong. This was new problem because now the servers available were blocked at the sites I need VPN to access, so I stop using CyberGhost then.

Sometimes when I was using CyberGhost, the IP address lookup services say that my server location was in different country than where CyberGhost say their server was. Not sure why. (Also, some of their servers were raided by authorities in the past.)

So summary is if you can find such a good deal as only $10 for whole year, yes I would use it as better than a free vpn service.
But I prob not use it as a main vpn unless just for very low security needs with not needing much help from their support staffs.

 

Caspian, Just curious...where did you get this exact link? Whose affiliate code is this? This kind of thing matters to me. I don't want to support the Wife Beaters Club of New Jersey or something. (Just kidding - but curious about the affiliate code.)

I had alread signed up at windows deal http://www.windowsdeal.com/ for a free Shadow Defender. And then I looked at other software that they were offering. I didn't have my VPN connected initially so it gave the price in American dollars. But I googled the link that I posted here while connected to my VPN so it was i Euros. I think I'll skip Cyberghost for now.

You're welcome. Just out of curiosity. What VPN are you using today? I have been using PIA and Mullvad. I think I trust Mullvad more.
