I have had Kingsoft Antivirus 2012 running on one of my computers for 388 days and have been very happy with it. Unfortunately it appears to have met its death as the latest update was seen as Virus Lib version 2014.07.07.17. Does anyone else out there have this installed yet and have your updates also stalled? I know they have a newer version but it seems to only be in Chinese, oh well time for a new test looks like.

    It was great in 2012.

    I wouldn't use "AV 2012" it in 2014.

That RAP plot point is for Kingsoft 2013, Chinese only.
Your research skills need some more beholding, perhaps?? :thumbd:
    Cheers.

So is there anyone out there still using and have you received any updates lately?? I'm not using on my main computer but have been testing on an older XP computer. Would still keep it if the definition updates continued....

The Virus Lib version 2014.07.07.17 is for the local engine for offline (no internet connection) protection. Kingsoft has always been an useless offline AV and its popularity is due to its powerful cloud engine. For my personal judgement, I downloaded around 100 new malwares from popular malware storage and Kingsoft 2012 detected most of that. I scanned the ones in Virustotal which Kingsoft didn't detect (mostly adwares and PUPs) and found that those remained undetected even in Virustotal version of Kingsoft. So, I suppose that Kingsoft 2012 is NOT DEAD and so I will continue to recommend Kingsoft 2012 until the cloud engine remain active and the latest version comes in English GUI. It still is the lightest companion AV.

3-4 years back, no antivirus mentioned the year as its version. Avast was in v4 for many years. So, I wouldn't mind using a particular 'version' of a product until it become vulnerable, buggy and useless in my latest OS.
