Hmm, maybe I was lucky or policy has changed. How long ago was this? I combined mine probably close to a year ago and have never used them up until now.

Hmm. I wonder if they have tightened their belts or if I was just a rare exception. They seemed plenty happy to do it for me, I just asked if two licenses could be combined for my convenience. The next email stated they would have to make a new key. I said that was fine. They emailed me back a new one stating that the old two would be invalid within 48 hours.

I'm sorted for a good while with the BIS 2015 9mo promo.

With their 9 month promo, I have somewhere around 270 days and on black Friday i'll purchase an additional license to set and forget.

Pretty much. I can't afford/don't care to change every day since I work in the IT profession.

I tend to get bummed out when the football season ends.... Not that I expect any miracles from the N.E. Patriots. ;)

On a serious note... About a year ago, I purchased their 5 year license for Antivirus Plus.... They call it "lifetime". It accepted the key.... I then disabled some of the included "fluff" and this thing is running just right. Beside having a low impact on the system, the detection rate is outstanding! Coupled together with SpyShelter's Firewall and the AppGuard, I would say it's a keeper....

Would you mind telling us which items you considered "fluff"?

    Sure...

    The Wallet
    Show Bitdefender Toolbar
    Search Advisor
    Scan SSL
    Critical Windows Updates
    Application updates
    Weak passwords

(I think that AdGuard does a better job than some of these included options.)

Also, the "Tools" are never used as well.

@henryq Me too. I disabled all the stuff you mentioned & more. Don't remember but I disabled scan removable media because 99.999% it is my drives I've already scanned. Really impressed how I can turn off virtually every protection I consider useless. Well done BD.

Oh yeah I'm not touching any of the tools either.

This is the way I run it as well. Light. Simple. Set and forget.

People complain about fluff. If you can turn it off, who cares?

Anyone using profiles? I'm experimenting with it now. Not sure it can do anything for me.

I know they have added profiles to the 2015 version but can anyone running please tell me if it still has the games list? From what I have read the newer profiles are still a bit buggy, ie switching to game profile when opening steam instead of when opening game, also doing the same with some browsers.

@zapjb I totally agree mate, not happy they have added defrag & registry cleaning & optimising the OS by disabling services, changing brightness etc.

If you are using BD 2015 then click settings - general & post a screenshot or tell me if it still has the games list option, many thanks.

Cheers for the screenshot zapjb, looks like they have removed it & instead came up with the silly profiles idea which would be great if it worked as intended.

For two months, they have not even solved the bugs of the tool profile.

Can anyone here that runs BitDefender AV+ 2015 & Comodo Firewall v7 tell me if there is still a issue with multiple entries of BitDefender AntiVirus Scanner & BitDefender Security Centre? I rarely reboot the PC & have noticed when Comodo Firewall is installed on the system that has BDAV+ 2014 that a lot of the above BitDefender are listed in task manager all taking up memory, removing Comodo Firewall seems to stop that happening.

After getting a free 6 month licence for Bitdefender Total Security 2015, I installed it. It was not long at all before I removed it.

I was not impressed by the fact that it neeed to uninstall Malwarebytes. I got a BSOD before the installer had finished running, but after a restarting Windows, Bitdefender was actually fully installed. It was way too heavy for my liking - it had a noticable impact on my system, and that was after I changed the scan settings to make it lighter. I did not check RAM usage as that is pointless. But my understanding is that it would have got lighter if I had let it settle in for a while. I uninstalled it on discovering that there was no way to stop it from automatically quarantining threats. I got another BSOD before the uninstall completed, But, I was able to sucessfully uninstall Bitdefender when I tried a second time.

Some of the other antiviruses using Bitdefender's scan engine are much lighter right from when they are first installed.

If there was the option to get Bitdefender to prompt for what action to take when a threat was found, I would have kept it installed for while to see if it became lighter over time.

One more thing I'll add is that I was impressed that the registry cleaner did not find many problems, and gave no false positives. Of course it would have been better if they had not included a registry cleaner. But, at least it shouldn't cause any harm to your system.
