I am not sure if the problem is with a recent Chrome update or running CCleaner. But right after running CCleaner I see that all my Chrome preferences are gone. I had click to play and java script set as white listing of sites only, now they are gone. Now it is a job of starting from scratch again with these preferences. I don't know what else is changed.

Anyway, if this was from running CCleaner is there a file I deleted which can be white listed in the CCleaner settings so it won't get deleted again?

    thanks for replies

I've run CCleaner after Google Chrome v.36 update and didn't get this problem. In Google Chrome section of CCleaner settings I have enabled everything except Saved form information, Saved Passwords and Compact databases. I'm using CCleaner version 4.15.4725 (64 bit).

Same thing happened to me back in January of this year.
    I posted about it here.
I kept getting Chrome error messages that read... "Your preferences cannot be read. Some features may be unavailable and changes to preferences won't be saved."
I tried a lot of stuff, then narrowed it down to not having the most current version of CCleaner.
As soon as I upgraded CCleaner, I was able to run it without the Chrome corruption problem appearing.
Make sure you have the most current version of Chrome (36.0.1985.125) and of CCleaner (4.15.4725).

I noticed I did not have the latest CCleaner version. I'll try with the latest update. Thanks.
