Sorry to say but it's the worst advice I ever heard in security forums. Checking processes in Task Manager as @Wellies said is safe and conclusive that 360TS is up and running.

    Hi
The logg - there was a thought of course .

But the taskmanager is not any prof of that all is well .

What gets me thinking some more is that 360IS warns about things that TS is totally quiet about - for instance some programs on my USB stick that IS do not like but TS say`s nothing about and the same with some downloads . Also - downloads in TS are set to leave messages after scanning but it is dead quiet - hmm .

When is the new release coming out ?

I've been putting this on computers, and it seems good except for a few things I hope they'll address:

    - It takes a while after logging in for the tray icon to appear. I don't know if that means protection is loading slowly, or just the GUI portion.
    - Security mode should be set automatically, as well as the Bitdefender and Avira engines.
    - I don't like the PC patch thing. Windows Update already does this and I don't want people being frightened by the pop-up saying they need to install all these fixes. I know it can be disabled in the settings, but it seems like something that shouldn't exist in the first place.

1: I will let them know
2: Not recommended, because on slower machines, it could bog them down. Maybe ask for the option in the installer stage, enable BD/AV engines?
3: Not recommended to remove it, in fact, patching it actually contributes to stability/fixes and should be enabled IMO. I've been using this feature quite a bit, and actually
love it. Makes patching less frustrating than default Windows Updater as it sometimes refuses to install certain patches, while TS does it with no problem. But I'd say, instead of red color, maybe they could make it yellow, or even add background automatic patching. BTW, it patches OTHER stuff and keeps up to date, like Java, Adobe Flash and others critical updates. I seriously hope they do not remove this :)

    1. Thank you.
    2. That makes sense, and I agree the option on what security mode during installation would be nice.
    3. I didn't know it offered patches for other critical programs, I thought it was just Windows. I guess that is a good feature, but it running in the background instead of showing a big popup with tons of problems would be nice.

I will look into it to advise Qihoo about all this as soon as possible hoping to have changes before major release. If you have other observations please share.

When I tried 360 TS v4.0.0.267 over a week ago, I checked via Windows update that my 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium OS was fully patched 2014-06-11, but still 360 Total Security wanted to install these Windows KB update patches.

    ndp45-kb2938782-x64.exe
    rootsupd.exe
    rvkroots.exe
    windows6.1-kb2496290-v2-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2506628-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2528614-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2546868-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2548388-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2555428-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2578214-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2581464-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2618301-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2618640-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2752161-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2757817-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2779272-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2885698-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2898851-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb2935092-x64.msu

After these update patches were fully installed, my DxO Optics Pro 9.5 RAW-converter won't run anymore. Were these 19 update patches some kind of Anti-NSA patches or something else?

Hi, please confirm that executable of said program is not in quarantine. If it's not, see if reinstallation helps of that program

That was not in quarantine and DxO reinstallation didn't help anything. Now I have F-Secure IS 2014 until Qihoo is willing to reply my question about this and solve this problem.

As for Windows Action Center, on my test attempt and with cooperation with Jay, it seems the issue is resolved.
Expect it in next bugfix build or major release this month.
Will try to squeeze other issues as well, no promises, hectic @ work.

Scared to put this on lots of computers for now. The "Patch Up" thing worries me. I'm afraid users turn off their computer in the middle of a patch and damage OS files. Is there a hack to turn this feature off? I simply do not like it.

It will not patch anything unless an user wants to. And no worries, it is not standard Windows Update patching, so no worries, you can cancel it anytime, I did it myself.
You can turn off notice so no pop up unless you patch it yourself. Settings>Patch Up>Turn off the pop-up notice and do not patch

How and why does it turn Windows Update Service back on? I want that set to "Disabled", forever and always. I just don't like it. There should be an option to turn off the entire Patch Up feature off.

It has an option to disable windows update at the end of patch up settings, something like Turn off Windows Update. Look into it.

I know, but somehow it gets checked again, and Windows Update Service is turned on again.

    To disable these notices:

1). On the top of the GUI, click on the 3rd icon from the Right
    2), Click Settings
3). In the column on the Left select "Patch-Up"
4). Under Pop-Up Window check the "Turn off Pop-Up notice and Do Not Patch"
    5). Uncheck Auto-Update.

Maybe during checkup it detects it as disabled and considers it as a possible system modification or threat. I will notify Qihoo about this and will let you know as soon as possible. Can you browse the log in the meantime and see any reference to Windows update or it's service name? Much appreciated your assistance.
