  1. When you use Crystal Security in "intrusion detection mode" it scans download directory automatically. Works best for browser where you can "lock" the download directory (e.g. Chrome/Chromium).

I guess that application has to run in background? Do you know a way to automatically scan downloaded files on VT without application or service running in background? Can this be achieved in Chrome?

    Impossible due to contradictory nature.

Yes, I was thinking about something like that but never found anything for Chrome.

  6. Old E5200 dual core Pentium (@3GHz, so clocked as E5700) here, hardly system impact

round up to 3 secs in an hour is < 0,1% CPU usage, this (budget) dual core CPU is from 2008, so any newer 2/4/8 core CPU will probably show better (lower) impact

Btw, how good is CS compared to other anti-malware solutions? I see it's a one man show company from Estonia. I wonder how his cloud does work. He says it gathers millions of users' data. With the full respect to him I never heard about CS so I can hardly imagine CS has such a huge user base. That leads me to think that he might share the cloud from other anti-malware "big boys" ...

Well perhaps I'm wrong, but I always believe that the addon works the same way as a real-time AV. It stays standby all the time and will intercept the downloads for analysis when certain conditions are met. Again, maybe I'm wrong.

  9. It uses Virus Total for primary detection with a (user configurable) classification for safe (0), grey(1-5), blacklist (>5 detection's) and unknown. He could registrar which what users decide for grey and unknown detection's. These results could be gathered for community voting (in future). When this is realised, he could show what other users have decided, just like Virus Total does.
