Plus it avoids conflicts as it prevents you to mix stable and beta updates with each other. Either you are stable or beta, but nothing in between.

Fabian, I think the new version is excellent. I remember mentioning that I also wanted the menu setting going from left to right. Great stuff.

    • As other people have mentioned, ideally, I think the icon should be changed - something more 'reassuring' instead of the black icon. Just like your avatar (and your website, right on the product box), go for the Emsisoft blue color as a square, and keep the shield with a white outline. If you want to put an 'E' for Emsisoft, if it fits, that'd be good. Or 'EM' (in white text - if it is similar to your avatar) or 'ES' - whichever is your company's standard. Otherwise just go for the icon on your website/box/avatar - looks good.
    • Also, and apologies for mentioning the menu (spent most of my life in marketing and design!), as I do like it. When you highlight a menu option, and you have the gray highlight to indicate that's the setting you're in (right above LOGS, QUARANTINE etc), I think this color could be changed to the Emsisoft blue. :)

What does orange color mean in tray icon? It disappears and go green as soon as I go into GUI.

Regarding the new icon, for me it gives no information compared to the old. But, then again I am colour blind...Red/Green. So, that's that! Plus, the new icon looks smaller compared to the old.

I never disabled any guard. Could be because signatures was a few hours old? I doubt it though. Orange icon turns green as soon as I double click tray icon and open up main GUI.

    Fabian,

I'm starting to test Internet Security 9 Beta. I have run into a program that doesn't work with IS 9. The program is Counterpath Bria 4. I use it to connect via SIP on my PBX. The program will not launch at all with IS 9 installed. I had to uninstall to get it to work. Before uninstall, I setup a rule to allow all actions by the program.

Outdated signatures will cause the status to switch after 24 hours. So that could be a potential issue if the signatures were too old.

Icon size is identical. Color blindness is an issue that I personally haven't thought about yet. Maybe a special color blind mode that switches the colors to something more recognizable? :)

The icon was designed to fit nicely into the other default icons:

I know some people don't like conformity, however in the end it comes down to a matter of taste. Unless we provide a way for people to provide their own icon, we will likely never please everyone.

    I will suggest it.

Can you try to create a process exclusion under Protection/File Guard/Manage whitelist? Just change type to "Process", select the executable file using the "..." button that shows up once you move the cursor to the item column and make sure all three checkboxes are set.

My icon is orange now, I have gone into the gui several times and File Gaurd is activated. It has done this several times previously, opening the gui seems to have changed icon back to green in previous cases, it is not doing it this time.

Can you try to download and execute the Eicar test file to see if the File Guard is functional at all on your system?

If it isn't, can you please open up a command prompt as administrator (Start, type in cmd into the search field, right click cmd under Programs, select "Run as administrator") and run the following command:
    Code:
    fltmc
Check whether a2acc is listed as a filter. If not, what happens when you try to load it using the following command:
    Code:
    fltmc load a2acc
    Thanks :).

Starting the computer this morning seems to have fixed it.

Just wanted to say thanks to Emsisoft and Fabian for active contribution on this thread. Really like the way it's done (direct contact with people that are making the product)!

My experience is that it has happened three times when computer has been into sleep mode. As soon as I double-click tray icon it it goes green. No module disabled.

I will do this if it goes orange after sleep mode. If it does happen I'll report at Emsisoft forum!

I reinstalled the newest version of IS and it was working before I put the whitelist exception in. I'm not sure what the issue was, but it seems to be fixed now.
