So, how many on-demand tools to detect malware are you using? On-demand meaning that files and programs are not scanned on access or on execute. You can also list them in reply.

So you don't use any real-time nor on-demand blacklisting software? You're more brave than me. How do you know that there is no malware on your system?

I do use the HOSTS files offered by HTTPSB, Chrome/Google's blacklisting and Comodo's Secure DNS.

More like I'm being crazy. =P

First, my system is already clean to begin with. Second, I use Softpedia as my pseudo repo. Third, I don't install many software anymore these days. Fourth, I put as much restriction as possible. Fifth, I am very strict about what I will install. Sixth, I have a talisman that will save me from the worst fate.

Ok, that makes sense. If I would have one, I wouldn't bother with those scanners also :)

"I use Softpedia as my pseudo repo." Was ist das Graf ?

4-6 if needed, though usually just HMP and if it finds anything then MBAM, Comodo and ESET etc.

HMP never really finds anything though which is no real surprise as I`ve got Sandboxie and Comodo firewall looking after things.

I take it as you know the talisman thing was a joke. It's been widely known that all real-time AVs hate me, and most OD scanners annoyed me. Even the best one I've ever used: HMP, had some limitations that made it rather ineffective for me. So really, even if I want to use one, I can't.

You just reminded me of the 3 years I've wasted to learn German language for virtually nothing. I still can't speak German language in the end. Such an annoying masculine feminine neutral forms rule that exists in all non-English European languages that I could never understand...

Anyway, it says what it has been said. Software which I want to use have to exist in Softpedia's library, and I only download them from there, using the secure mirrors if available. That will reduce the risk of fraud software pretty considerably IMO. Plus it has the adware tag, so I can be more cautious when I really have to install a bundled software.

I dont really speak it either, just thought it was a good phrase.I had a go at German for a whole month years ago so sorry for reminding you of your 3 years in hell.

I understand now what you mean.I also use only use safe sites for occasional downloads.

I searched Softpedia for that Talisman thingy though but no joy.......joke.:p

    Regards....Eck

Eh it was not really hellish. I just lacked motivation to learn it seriously. I still don't understand the forms rule up to this date, though. When I asked about this to my teacher she said it's been already like that. Not happy with that answer.

Then for the last sequence Chrome tells me about potentially dangerous software too, so I don't think I will really need an additional OD scanner.

When to apply certain form is what I don't understand. How do I define if an arcade cabinet should use a masculine, feminine or neutral form?

Oh noes, what have I done to this thread? I've dragged everyone into the edge of the universe. =V

I guess you also have SmartScreen enabled? I saw it in action few times and must say I like it.

Nope it's disabled. I disconnect myself from the internet when installing a software so it's not much of a use. Also, I just don't like to see explorer.exe requires an outbound access, makes me feel a little uncomfortable.

Avira custom install, CCE, EEK, HMP, MBAM, Panda Cloud Cleaner, HouseCall. Dunno if PeStudio or VTchromizer counts. Still 5-10 though, let's see if someone beats that with a > 10.
