Does anyone know if while in Balanced mode, that files are still being scanned in real-time with Bitdefender and Avira engines?

Right now, I am running in Security Mode and by god is it consuming a lot of memory.

I still want to use both engines, but without the cost of memory consumption.

What I'm wondering, is 360 Total Security less secure while in Balanced mode?

In balanced Mode, it is CLOUD only, no BD or Avira.
If memory is of concern, try going CUSTOM, and enable Avira only.
That SHOULD give you a reasonable amount of protection and less memory usage.

Anything that's on your mind, just ask.
If I am www browsing, then using Security mode, if link is suspicious, I open it up in sandbox.
If I am watching youtube/video, still Security.
If I am gaming, then switch to high performance, and switch back when done.
If I am doing heavy duty graphics or demanding apps, or windows update or program update [allmyapps], then switch to balanced mode.
After all the heavy work is done, switching back to Security.
Of course, that is my choice, what you should choose is what you feel most comfortable with. My advice is to experiment in various scenarios and just find what suits you most.
Even with just cloud, you should have good protection, qihoo cloud still catches more than enough for average user. But then, run full system scan every week and let it finish until the end, to make sure you're clean. Second opinion scanner [malwarebytes, hitmanpro, herdprotect, or others, pick what you like] is more than welcome in using qihoo cloud engines only.

This is the way I am going to approach it as well, sounds more logical to do it this way.

I have 16 GB of Ram installed anyways, I really don't know why I am fussing about it lol

    Thanks

If your CPU is at least 2.4 GHz, and HDD is fairly fast [SmartDefrag 3], then you have nothing to worry about, in fact, you can switch to lower protection when in gaming only, to speed up loading times. But see for yourself :)

I wonder how 360IS was able to use the bitdefender engine without blowing up over 100meg. For me Internet Security used 1/4 to 1/3 the memory total security does.

Yes 360IS is about 30meg here, and 360 TS is about 100meg

Why is it that if you have both Bitdefender & Avira engines enabled,it uses crazy memory(over 100),but if you only have 1 enabled(doesn't matter which one),The memory goes way down(just over 25).I'm using this alongside of Comodo Antivirus. The Comodo tray only uses 800K,so why is 360TS using over 7M?I find this with some av's that the tray uses a lot more memory than it should.Sorry to get off track, the first question is the one i am wondering about the most.

I know of at least one, but don't want to turn this into an AvB thread.

One issues I have with TS, is engine keep mysteriously getting disabled. I believe others have reported the same issue.

Speed-up and clean-up modules are really very important modules of security suite....

Where is the firewall in TS?

Right. People confuse security programs with ones that offer cleanup, porn filters, backup, etc...

Behaviour normal for scenario of 1GB RAM or less. Not sure if slow CPU plays the game. If Bitdefender keeps getting disabled, it is due to slow PC performance.
In that case, cloud + avira should be OK.
Not part of Internet Security, but...
    https://www.comodo.com/home/support-maintenance/system-utilities.php?track=2744&key5sk1=66f4fbffd2486346c90127ba1e6777e1deb29b36&key5sk2=2128&key5sk3=1403030241000&key5sk6=2737&key5sk7=1401818726000&key6sk1=&key6sk2=CH3001599101&key6sk3=7&key6sk4=en-us&key6sk5=EU&key6sk6=1&key6sk7=https://www.comodo.com/&key6sk8=140-1&key6sk9=16801050&key6sk10=true&key6sk11=bbff0a5a5ecbef01208244d95b443e5ecc63dfa3&key6sk12=2035&key7sk1=72&key1sk1=dt&key1sk2=https://www.comodo.com/&tc=1
If it helps in better performance of a PC [slimming down startup entries, disabling unnecessary services, etc], I more than welcome it. Besides, nowhere it says that a product with a "suite" in it's label should not contain extra tools to keep PC up and running. And if certain people are comfortable with it, they will use it.
But hey, what do I know?
    1: Bitdefender http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/total-security.html
    2: Norton https://us.norton.com/360/?inid=us_hho_topnav_pd_360
    3: Kaspersky http://www.kaspersky.com/pure
    4: Trend Micro http://www.trendmicro.co.uk/products/titanium-maximum-security/index.html
    5: Zone Labs Zone Alarmhttp://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/zonealarm-extreme-security.htm
    6: Avast http://www.avast.com/en-eu/premier
I think those above are quite enough. Warning: those are NOT for AvsB thing, those are just for mirroring Qihoo 360 Total Security, those extra bells and whistles other than pure antivirus.
Still want to use TS? Then use it and don't use speedy thing. It just works even when you're not using it, it will still protect you as it should.
No one is forcing anyone to use something. Don't want it? Don't click it. The concept is so simple it is not even funny.
Now, in this case, when using virus scan, make sure to uncheck startup entries and just focus on the FILES section. Should be easy enough :)

    Regarding firewall:

360 Security CenterHi regarding firewall issue. We are currently more focused on perfecting our network security solution. We believe that it is a better solution against backdoor, trojans and other malicious attacks as it is a more targeted defence in comparison to a generic firewall.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I have seen this problem on computers with 4gb and 8gb of ram.

I'm not necessarily opposed to 360TS shutting down parts of the protection, but it should at least notify me so I know I'm not as protected as I think.

I observed this behaviour on 1024MB RAM laptop with 1.80GHz CPU, it notified me due to low RAM amount, it will disable Bitdefender engine.
As for 1GB>RAM PC's, it is a bug that should be reported along with CPU, RAM, OS and 32/64bit environment.
If already reported via e-mail and there is no reply back from Qihoo, then ask a friend to post on your behalf on their Facebook page [as a post/status, not a forum].
    That will get their attention.

I gave up on the 360 products. Too much RAM usage, definitions always out of date by a day or two, and the last straw was when it destroyed a few paid for apps that I can no longer use like my XYplorer Pro.

Define destroyed. Quarantined exe file [which can be restored and trusted], deleted registry key [low probability, low certanity of fix], or reverted original Windows integration [known issue, trusting entrire XYplorer should fix the problem]?
    http://synaxis.co.nz/images/icons/disaster_large.png
I did a little "tutorial" in case I did not explain very well...
Step 1: Go to Virus Scan
Step 2: Go to Quarantine [in new window, also quarantine]
Step 3: Locate deleted file and select it [checkmark]
Step 4: Click on Restore button
Step 5: Click on Add file to Trust list
    Step 6: Click OK.

Another attachment is where to add File/Folder of your favorite program getting deleted.
And while you're at it, submit feedback to Qihoo reporting false positive. If they do not know about a problem, they cannot fix it.

There was no log entries or quarantined files. I now get memory access violations when trying to run XYplorer - right after doing an update to 360 TS. I already had a few other apps get quarantined or just totally erased when using 360. Enough is enough.

Are you running any other security solution other than TS? 64bit or 32bit? Xp or 7?
    Please clarify bold.
