Testing out a new setup

Avira Free Antivirus + Adguard Premium + K9 Web Protection

 

I found that out a couple of years ago. WSA covers everything KS does. And KS is still buggy.

 

• Windows 8.1 Update 1 with all updates installed
• User Account control on maximum
• ESET NOD32 AV
• OpenDNS
• Google Chrome with Adblock Plus and cache on RamDisk

I couldn't run CIS on my PC since 6.0. To my surprise this new version 7.0.4142 runs smooth. So my setup on my main PC is the following:

Hi Folks,
Does anyone know if Zemana Antilogger Free (which encrypts key strokes) can be run concurrently with SpyShelter Free (which does not encrypt but blocks keyloggers and does other things)?

Probably wouldn't recommend it. They both do the same thing fundamentally. Better of running Keyscrambler with either of these.

Thanks for your reply. I think Keyscrambler only works with browsers. I like the idea of encryption, which SpyShelter Free does not do and Semana Free does. SpyShelter sends up blocking windows like Zone Alarm and Comodo do and has more features than Zemana. If I understand it correctly, it has an anti-screenlogger also. Does anyone know if they are compatible?

Yes, Spyshelter Free has System Protection, Anti-Key logger, Anti-Screen logger, Anti-Clipboard logger and Anti-Kernal mode logger. I am going to set an AX64 snapshot and try them out together.

So far so good. They seem to be compatible with each other and with AX64. If I run into any problems later I will post again.

Was running without a real time A/V and was using MBAM Pro 1.75 on demand. Decided to upgrade to the 2.2 version but it took over a minute for it to start up after booting up. This was the norm for a half a day or so, so am back to 1.75 which runs great with no problems. Looks like I will keep this version until next March until the support ends. Maybe then I'll take another look at the future MBAM upgrade and if it's still the same as now then I will probably ditch it.
One other thing I added back Ghostery running along side with Adblock Edge and NoScript in Palemoon which is in Sandboxie. I find that with Ghostery the browser is much snappier and quicker.

 

I still haven't been able to talk myself into 2.2. Maybe if I thought there was some compelling reason to upgrade, I would. I'm afraid it is still problematic.

And the award for most security on a computer this year goes to King Mellow of the Philippines, which by the way is a wonderful place, I was there for 3 weeks last year. Thats a lot of security, I'm sure there will be people who will suggest dropping some as there is redundacy in my opinion. For example, doesn't Zemana provide screenshot protection? Would not Adguard and AdBlock Plus basically do the same thing?

 

Yes there is some overlapping in that security setup: EMET & HitmanPro.Alert; Zemana & Oxynger; Adblock & Adguard; a lot of web protection tools (K9, addons...). But overall they just try to cover all bases.
Is it too much for me? Yes. But it doesn't mean that this should be too much for everyone.

@King Mellow You can add DNS provider like OpenDNS or Norton DNS and software to make your system backup, like Macrium.

I'll probably remove some of them later. Well, I'm just using Zemana because I got a 1-year free license from Malwaretips. I intended to use both AdGuard and Adblock Plus, I know they're doing the same thing but as long as they don't affect the browsing speed I'll keep them both.

Thanks! I'm using Norton DNS, I just forgot to mention it. For backup, I'm using Windows Backup and Macrium Reflect.
