The performance Test result is very different than my own experience.
Panda Cloud 3.0 has less impact on my system than Bitdefender IS.

first reason: because it was not the IS version tested but the AV-only version

For impact scores, is a high number good or bad?

Also, in the past you used to be able to view a date range (i.e. multiple months). Why was that feature removed from these graphs?

Looks like a few former good performance players fell from grace.. F-Secure is way down, what did they do? ESET rose up in performance, while Avast dropped. Interestingly, I found Bullguard 2012 to be VERY light, but 2014 to be exceptionally heavy, and this test confirms my feelings. Emsisoft I always felt was really heavy, I hope they work on that. Note the improvements in Fortinet, it used to be pretty heavy feeling.

Also, I tend to make adjustments to Eset to lighten it up, while not significantly impacting detections. For example you can speed browsing by removing the DNA scanning of Web Pages, I feel it is redundant to the on-access aspects, so I tend to make the Web stuff as light as I can.

... Wow. Windows 8 blocks almost 90% of this stuff out-of-the-box? Way cool.

I'll never understand how can avast! score so poorly in performance where it has continuosly proven on all my systems that it's by far the fastest. Really strange.

Avast in hardened mode will block all that crap on execution. It's the fastest on my machine, too.

Heh, not really and I suffer with a "black screen" delay on boot, but all-in-all it is a very good AV.

How is it that K-Labs is always at the top?

Do you use Comodo firewall by any chance? I had the same issue where BDAV+ was causing a long boot delay with a black screen, fixed it by uninstalling Comodo Firewall, reboot then install BD then get all updates that require reboot, do full system scan then reinstall Comodo Firewall. That fixed the issue & boot time was quick again but noticed that BD was a bit heavier on system that 360IS.

imo no way bitdefender is that light. not a chance. no offense ibk but i cant see that any day any how. and while i am not a huge fan panda cloud is light as a feather after testing it for the past few days. i would also rank eset just ahead of avira. again no offense but i cant see how bitdefender ranks that high. maybe when hell freezes over. same for kaspersky. every time someone says kaspersky is lighter than last year and every time i test it its one of the heaviest i have ever ran.

I'm running it for 3 months already and yes, it's very light, my PC boots up in 18-19 secs.

it may be somewhat light but its no where near what some of the others are.

@anon: those are not percentages and furthermore the data is only on ordinal level (and scores vary based on how others perform inside the same test, so you can not comapre the numbers between tests).

    I agree, Kaspersky is heavy.

There's no way it is lighter than Windows Defender on Windows 8.1.

I mean i just uninstalled paid Kaspersky AV from my Windows 8.1 about 2 weeks ago (after about 6 months using it) and just left Windows Defender installed, and my computer immediately became more responsive.
