I was reading the other day about how they still haven't fixed an IE bug that is currently infecting IE: http://www.directive.com/blog/item/...-day-vulnerability-found-but-not-patched.html

But according to this article, it sounds like they are working on a fix for this new bug that should come out at an undetermined time: http://www.cio.com/article/753148/M...=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed: cio/feed/articles (CIO.com Feed - Articles)

So let me see if I have this right.

The first bug that they reported back in April took a while, but it was given a patch, and even Windows XP users were given this patch.

But now there's a new IE 8 bug that hasn't been patched yet, but Microsoft promised to patch it when the time is right. So, does that mean that only people who use IE 8 have this problem, or should all versions of IE be off limits to everyone, until they patch this bug?

Plus, are you able to still use the infected IE if you use Sandboxie or Webroot?

I wouldn't recommend using IE8. Remember IE8 is integrated into the XP OS so why put yourself at a higher risk.
If your using Windows Vista/7 or higher OS then I would update the IE browser.

AFAIK it only affects IE version 8. MS proposes to update IE to newer version.
Sandboxie would probably prevent infection if configured correctly but as with any other thing we can't be 100% sure.

Hey, guys. There just seems like since there's always a new alert for some sort of Microsoft patch, I guess for some people(or at least people like me), o_O all of this can get a little bit confusing. Because I don't remember there being an official announcement that the IE bug from late April was finally fixed. Plus, I had thought that they had sent out a 'temporary' patch to fix that bug, in addition to a patch that would patch Windows XP computers. Even though that didn't make a lot of sense to me since support for XP was suppose to have ended on April 8th.(Also, Microsoft acted as an 'enabler' for people who are holding on to XP and who didn't want to upgrade.)

But the worst part of all of this confusion is that I have a new Windows 8.1 computer that uses IE 11, and somehow the IE 8 thing didn't seem to click in my mind.

Also, since we're talking, are all the IE browsers above 8 officially good now?

So then, other than my oversight regarding IE 8, basically I'm right: THE INTERNET EXPLORER BUG FROM APRIL 2014 STILL HASN'T BEEN FIXED!!!!

Also, I would like to know if Wilders Security has been keeping up with this and posting notifications that the bug still hasn't been fixed(and perhaps explaining why)?

Plus, is there anyone at this forum who is currently using Internet Explorer?

Not sure what you're chasing here. From Secunia:

Favorite browser poll. It's a safe bet there are people using modern versions of IE, and they are perfectly fine.

    Yay! Yippie! :p

Also, I tried to do something with my Amazon Cloud Player the other day, and it needed me to go online and sign in to amazon.com, and it opened up IE and took me to amazon.com.

However, for future references, if I had made another browser such as Firefox my default browser, would my Amazon Cloud Player have opened up Firefox instead?

And one more thing. Does anyone remember what thread it was that either had instructions or a link to instructions on the steps to take and the things to change and disable in IE? I would like to undo all that now that IE is suppose to be fixed?

Thanks, Key. That's what I thought. Also, I did want to go to the web(amazon.com), but I had forgot that an infected and unsanboxed IE was going to be opened.

Also, not to forget my other question: Does anyone remember what thread it was that either had instructions or a link to instructions on the steps to take and the things to change and disable in IE? I would like to undo all that now that IE is suppose to be fixed?
