Anyone interested to buy?

If he had the opportunity to sell it for $10M two years ago, he should do that. I'm afraid that such generous offer won't be repeated because especially within the last two years the reputation of Ad Muncher was harmed immensely. Moreover there are already other ad blocking applications which proved to be of the same quality or even better than Ad Muncher. At the moment Ad Muncher is not a threat to its competitors, so they have no reason to buy it. His only salvation is an IT security company (Norton, ESET etc.) that will want to enhance their security solution by an ad blocker, imho. But I could be wrong what in fact I would wish because I have fond memories for Ad Muncher.

 

AdMunchers foothold on the market has been well and truly broken now by AdGuard. As you indicated an established company may add it as an enhancement to one of their existing products but would that really sway people to choose it over the competitors?...I doubt it. People have no faith in the name anymore, so other software companies may consider it injurious rather than advantageous.

 

One way or another Ad Muncher is the dead project now and its revival is possible only with the arrival of a new investor.

 

Another thing that is puzzling is Murray's site is locked, although this page is viewable. What can be seen there doesn't fill me with hope.

 

Jeff posted in Ad Muncher forum. As far as I know nobody said it was already sold but the intention to sell it is very clear thus meaning that Murray cannot be working on v5 anymore. They will be vague until the last moment. Make your own judgements ...

I have a license from AdMuncher, I used it for several years, but AdBlock which is free covers even social networks such as Facebook, therefore I wonder how they can remain competitive under these circumstances...

 

Yes exactly. Mhm... so why can't Jeff ask Murray about it, is AM for sale or not. I mean are they not in this together as friends, partners, developer(s) I assume they do speak to each other.

 

Yeah, Jeff is really tough guy. While he had always my sympathy for the hard work he has been doing on advert lists I'm less impressed by his approach in questions of future of Ad Muncher, i.e. trying to convince users until the very last moment that development of v5 continues and that this is their (Jeff and Murray) everyday task and that actually everything's perfect.

 

I would bet that he knew about as much or only slightly more than we did about its future. Would you start sounding the alarm to users if you weren't sure what the captain of the ship was going to do? The guy did what he was asked to do, and tried. I'd get frustrated as a spokesman or developer too here, as forum members here have a tendency to chase away more product developers than they attract. The matter of AdMunchers likely demise is not helped by the fact that there are enough decent free solutions available.

 

10 million offer and he refused? I would think he is regretting that decision deeply as since that 10mil offer came in the market position of the product has largely vaporized, and customer sentiment has destroyed it's reputation - worldwide. Yet they continued to take peoples hard earned money on a largely overpriced, broken product. I will state I am aware of a variety of legal actions being taken against Murray for his Admuncher fraud, including violations of consumer protection laws in many different jurisdictions.

He should be ashamed of himself, absolutely ashamed. This will come back to haunt him for years, regardless of what he does in the future. You cannot burn that many people without burying your head in the same for a decade or more to allow the strong to pass over. The biggest shame is, v5 could have been developed, and pushed out in Alpha form in probably a couple of months of coding from an 'average' coder. That's the part that hurts.

My guess is, he can't sell it now from a business perspective. Why? The customer base of lifetime members is too large to make it profitable. Any potential buyer would be forced to implement a 'phase out' of those lifetime licenses, and in view of the superior solutions out there (Adguard, Adawares upcoming product, etc), and effective FREE solutions (adblock, etc).. Business wise it's no longer an effective investment, and coupled with the damaged product image - a non-starter.

 

Taking bets on how long their web page stays up, and they continue to take peoples money..

 

I don't understand why he didn't sell it years ago instead of promising something that he can't deliver.

 

We can assume he was 'milking' it.. As long as sales continued, he continued to make promises, and take peoples cash. That's the most logical assumption. Now that the drum beat of hatred has reached a crescendo, and there are some legal activities taking place, we can assume he 'want's out'.
