I guess that must be what Marcos was referring to. I said it was not on the changelog, and maybe he was referring to the forum post as being the changelog.

    It's fixed. And that's important.
    Changelog isn't.

I tried the NOD 32 Av the other day on my new WIn 8.1 machine. The first thing it did was disable malwarbytes. So I uninstalled it and lost my internet connection. I had to do a restore back a few days to get internet back. Anybody else seen this on Win 8.1 64 bit?

If you want to use them together in real-time as a combo you better add exclusions for them. Exclude ESET in MBAM and vice versa. But I have no idea why your connection got screwed up like that.

Nod found a Trojan but am guessing it was a false positive and when I chose to repair that is when I lost my net connection.. Is there a log file that might have survived the uninstall of NOD I can check to see name od baddie that was fixed?

    Hello,

I would suggest reporting the issue directly on ESET's support forum at http://forum.eset.com/, where you will be able to get further assistance from one of ESET's technicians.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

    Hello ,
A few monts ago, I had installed Nod 32 Av on my Win 8.1.1 64 bit PC and install went fine . After install, Nod 32 auto updated all def files etc.
After that, on PC start up next day, Nod 32 would not auto update , no matter how long I left my pc connected to internet .
I previously experienced same problems with Nod 32 a couple of months ago , did uninstall & reinstall 3 times , same problems.
Called ESET support the did a remote shared connection on my PC set up Proxy cleared Nod dat files etc, etc. next day same problem over and over again .
Sent requested files to ESET etc. etc. next day .... ( all files response was that all looked OK) . Problem persisted every time on restart of my PC and software would not auto update .
I have several phone conversations and help sessions with ESET support in California and they could not seem to find anything wrong or why this was happening .
I decided to uninstalled Nod and a week later did clean install of Win 8.1.1 ...... I have been using 64 Bit AVG AV .

So this week I decided to try the new Nod 32 AV service 1 and installed it , all install went good , Nod 32 auto updated as in past ......
Next day, same problem again .
All other installed antivirus software that I have tried has auto updated & worked flawless , AVG, AVAST Norton McAfee etc etc . ( I run only 1 anitvirus program at a time on my PC , ( never 2 or more).
I have used Nod 32 in the past years on other PC's and earlier windows OS's and never had any problem like this .

Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this.

    Regards,

@BobH44AZ Did you change anything in scheduler? If yes, what were the changes, you've made? If you run update manually, does it run OK?

I have three Windows 8.1 Update 1 machines running Eset Security Suite 7, two 64 bit, one 32 bit. About 80% of the time all three machines do not update on a cold boot and will show an update error in the GUI. Whenever the next update gets tripped the machines successfully update to the latest signature. When starting from sleep, updates occur as expected.

I remember reading in Eset forum that the update problem will be corrected in a future product update.

    Hello,

The nice internal update system is used provide updates to users when users need them.

Version 7.0.317.n is a service release in that it contains no new functionality, only fixes for specific issues reported by some customers.

If you are not experiencing those issues, there is no need to upgrade. Personally, I downloaded ESET Smart Security 7.0.317 and installed it on top of my daily-use computers without any problems, whatsoever. For the remaining computers, I'll get it installed on them as they get powered up and used.

This is a bit before my time, but apparently around 15 years ago, ESET did release a program component update (version update) that had been thoroughly tested and debugged after months of beta testing, only to find out that didn't work with a popular Japanese word processor (may have been Ichitaro, I'm not sure—as I mentioned, this was years before I joined ESET). After this experience, ESET's owners made a decision to never again automatically roll out a PCU until months after it had been released and it could be confirmed there were no major issues with it.

If there's one thing ESET has learned over the years, it's that large scale testing is never large enough to catch all of the corner cases. And if you think this is something unique to ESET, try copying and pasting the following query into your favorite search engine: Windows 8.1 Update won't install

Over the past decade and a half, ESET has made numerous improvements to its quality assurance, and there are even technologies like ESET Live Grid to help the company mitigate the chances of such things happening in the future. However, ESET takes the stability of its software seriously, and will not jeopardize customers' computers, no matter how infinitesimal the risk.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

    Hello,

For anyone else experiencing troubles downloading updates, I would suggest contacting ESET support directly and opening a ticket with them. Off the top of my head, there are probably a few different reasons this could happen, but it's best to work with a support engineer directly to go down the list. Top level contact information is located at http://www.eset.com/support (which should get you routed to your country-specific support via geoIP redirection).

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

    Hello Aryeh,
Thanks for all the information. I have just reinstalled trial version of Nod 32 this morning. I did not save ticket numbers or email correspondence from California based support folks.
I read where others have experienced same auto update problem .
    Regards,

    Hello,

Glad to hear things are working for you. Problems downloading updates, while rare, are not unheard of, and can happen for various different reasons (network connection not initialized yet, connectivity problems, ISP proxies, problems with the operating system or file system, etc.) so if the problem does occur again in the future, be sure to contact support and one of the engineers will walk you through troubleshooting the issue.

Hi Eset people in this thread! I was on Webroot for the past year, and while it wasn't necessarily a bad experience (did not get virus), it did do some weird stuff with a couple of programs (explorer.exe ran 300mb, Razer surround ran 400mb) once I uninstalled and cleaned up, those programs are now running at 30mb and 90mb respectively. Now on a paid license of ESET Smart Security and couldn't be happier at the actual lightness of the product, not the 'on paper' lightness. Team ESET for at least the next year! :)
