My period to renew my subscription ran out on Nod32. I'd like to continue using the older 4.x version on a PC running XP. Anyone ever succeed in using a new license key on an older version to keep get updates? I'm looking to buy a new subscription, but would like to avoid the add-ons and additional resources for the latest version on this machine in this particular case.

If you have a license for ESET NOD32 Antivirus or ESET Smart Security, I'd strongly recommend downloading and installing the latest version 7.0.317 which provides far better protection than v4. Just make sure to keep LiveGrid enabled.

The new license worked and the existing installation updated correctly. This is great to know.

I have just the antivirus program in the currently installed version (4.x) and the latest 7.x edition I purchased with a new update subscription.

Now that the signature database is up to date again and I've run a scan, I will try to have another look at the latest version again. Some of the additional features are not vital for my use case and I'm looking to run light, but that's not a criticism of the product.
