Just checked my Chrome version, and got updated instead. I don't use EMET with Chrome anymore, it's made to be secure without it after all. I do run MBAE though, which has its own share of compatibility problems with EMET.

When you "got updated instead", to which version was it? 35.0.1916.114 ?
Do you usually manually update as a Sandboxie user?
That's what I do. Then, when I know there is a new Chrome version ready, I open a browser window outside of SBIE and check the version number, which then updates Chrome.
This time, no dice... says I'm current.
I see another user with the same issue in the Comments section of the Chrome blog.

It was 34, normal procedure. I don't run Chrome sandboxed, remember almost arguing about the pros and cons?

You got updated to 34? I don't follow.
As for remembering almost arguing about something, I try to forget arguing, if I can. I definitely don't want to remember almost arguing. ;)

It was 34, but then upgraded to 35. So far nothing broken.

I can't fathom what is wrong. I tried disabling all extensions before updating, and that didn't help.
I even enabled the Google updater that I ordinarily keep disabled, to no avail.
I think the Chrome devs will fix it, whatever it is, but I hate not having the latest version in the meantime.

I see they have forced the chrome notifications icon back into the system tray, had it disabled in previous versions but now it won't stay gone even though I have all notification options disabled in chromeflags.

More reports of users with same issue I have.
Always helps to know others are encountering the same thing.

Chrome on my home PC will not update. At work, it did. Both Windows 7. So I am confused too. (I use EMET at home but not at work. Is it possible that has something to do with it??)

I'm going to try this suggestion.
But first, right now I am imaging my other machine so I can easily revert if the installation messes up my preferences.
I'll also back up the Default folder first, but sometimes the browser settings and bookmarks disappear on me and it's no fun getting everything back.
I'll let you know how it goes.
It's getting to be a hassle waiting for Chrome to fix this problem.

Edit In: It worked great! On one machine my extensions were gone, but I'd backed them up (Default folder). On the other machine, everything came through perfectly. I now have 35.0.1916.114. Thank you for the suggestion! :thumb:

You're welcome, glad it worked for you. Honestly, though, it was a bit of a guess on my part :doubt:

Now you tell me! LOL. Between the image I created first and backing up the Default folder, I wasn't taking any real risk. :thumb:

I hate to say this but I have had BAD luck using the full size offline installer. After using it I was never able to get it to auto update. I've tried 3 times on 3 machines and never had any joy!

What I finally did this time was uninstall (did NOT delete my settings), downloaded the usual Chrome installer and was back to normal, except I am now at version 35.0.1916.114 m. We'll see if I have any issues down the road when the next update comes out.

Good input. And worth tracking as new updates become available. For sure, I will be here posting about it when the next version release comes out.
The one thing that you noted that did not disturb me was that you said you were never able to auto update after using the offline installer. I manually update, so I might not be affected as you were.
Anyway, thanks for the report. :thumb:

Has anybody had any issues with text disappearing? It doesn't happen often, but now and I then I see a page with "m ssi g c ara te s" (missing characters) here and there. Then I switch to other tabs and all of the characters are lines. If I exit and restart it's back to normal.

I don't even know if it's a Chrome problem or what, but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this.

Not a problem for me. Nor have I seen any complaints of this nature on the Chrome blog.

It sure looks like my problem. I manually update and it flat out wouldn't. After reinstalling manually, I was still having issues. I found this page https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/111996?hl=en I had error #3. My standard user account is locked down fairly well and wouldn't let the new update exe run. After allowing it, things seem normal again. We'll see...

I know Google wants us out of the update control "business" but I still want to control my machine. I think it's still mine!

The Stable Channel has been updated to 35.0.1916.153 for Windows, Mac and Linux.

This release contains a Flash Player update.

    Security Fixes and Rewards
This update includes 4 security fixes. Below, we highlight fixes that were either contributed by external researchers or particularly interesting. Please see the Chromium security page for more information.

[$1000][369525] High CVE-2014-3154: Use-after-free in filesystem api. Credit to Collin Payne.
[$1000][369539] High CVE-2014-3155: Out-of-bounds read in SPDY. Credit to James March, Daniel Sommermann and Alan Frindell of Facebook.
[$500][369621] Medium CVE-2014-3156: Buffer overflow in clipboard. Credit to Atte Kettunen of OUSPG.

As usual, our ongoing internal security work was responsible for the following fix:
[368980] CVE-2014-3157: Heap overflow in media.

Many of the above bugs were detected using AddressSanitizer.

This release fixes a number of crashes and other bugs. A full list of changes is available in the SVN log. If you find a new issue, please let us know by filing a bug.

Manually updating (via About Google Chrome) is once again working perfectly for me, after having followed was0114's advice to reinstall.

    No problem, J_L.
I guess Flash Player was updated as well, though the blog doesn't mention it.
I am now at version 14.0.0.125.

Page42, not only does the blog mention it, even you mention it in your copy-paste, on the 2nd line of your post. ;)
