Hard disk manager 14 pro - error in event viewer-Windows 7

I get the following error under windows system logs:

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device Root\PARAGONBLOCKDEVICE\0000.

Earlier I had an exclamation mark in device manager at user-mode block device but this disappeared when I started and set Windows service: Windows Driver Foundation to automatic.

Any solution to fix this error in event viewer

 

Me too on a new Windows 8.1 64 system with HDM 14. Any resolution?

 

How does this affect the operation of the program? For example, are there any errors when you start some wizards?

 

No errors that I can tell. I am just using the backup function so far, and I verified the archive ok.

During boot (Dell XPS 8300) I see Event 219 warning:
The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\PARAGONBLOCKDEVICE\0000.

What is it trying to say?

 

I don´t know what it´s trying to say. I asked because when I install HDM 14 or use a WinPE, I frequently get this error message:

"Operation failed - Could not open user interface - ... Error code: 0x200000a",

and I thought the two could be related. I haven´t checked Event Viewer when this error appears.

Add me to the list. Get the same error (exactly) using HDM and also the HDM 15 preview. Windows 8.1 x64. No slowdown on system restart. Just a dirty event log.

 

With me Windows 7 x64 hangs at the logo. When checking the eventlog a lot of block device driver errors

(german, at the bottom on 16.09.2014 Paragon stated that the problem will be solved with the next update, but it seems there still is no update.
Maybe the update will come with v16 ,,,)

Meanwhile I uninstalled HDM v15 and will run diskimages from CD-ROM, which is taking more time.
Maybe I should consider Macrium Reflex...

I always burned a RW DVD rotating with two keeping the previous version also. I read a post here of somebody having a problem with one created on a USB flash drive so I created one. OMG, how much faster it boots up! I'm going to keep an only one previous version on DVD from now on.

 

Drawback of using a DVD:
a. close pc
b. reboot 1. go to BIOS change bootsequence
c. reboot 2. launch Paragon (slower from DVD, taking more time)
d. make the image
e. reboot 3. go to BIOS change bootsequence
4. reboot 4

Are you going into your BIOS or just using the boot menu? Using F12 or just the boot menu is for one time boot, no need to go into your BIOS to permanently change the sequence. Doing it that way when you remove the CD/DVD, it boots from the next device in your BIOS in your normal setup which is CD/DVD then the hard drive(s).

 

I am going into the BIOS - [Boot] Section and change boot prio of the 1st device there.
Maybe verrry oldfashioned, but I don't know any other way to be honest.

 

Your doing it the hard way. Reboot, while the screen is still black press F12(I have to hold F12 down as sometimes I miss it). If you make frequent backups, create a USB flash drive using Boot Media Builder, use F12 and you'll never go back!

As for the USB-thing: I have spent hours on trying to get it work, really.

Although the formatted USB flash drive has been created by the book, i.e. by Paragon, after reboot, with the drive in the usb port, it simply does not show up in the BIOS bootpriority list.

As a matter of fact, it did not show anywhere in the BIOS.
Tried this, that, whatever. Also tried to let it emulate floppy drive or CD-ROM, but.. no way.

Well, actually, I ONCE could indeed set as 1st boot device, I don't know how I managed it, but I succeeded in getting it there.

So, I gave up, it wasn't worth spending sooo much time on it, i.e. I was spending (much) more time on trying to fix it then it would gain on saving time.

Then I read that there was no need to use USB or CD-ROM, an image cud be created on the fly (due to VSS).

I was happy,until this blockdevice thing.

Frankly, I am considering to buy another product.
This problem was in the product in v14, and still is in v15. I don't expect it will be fixed within this version, so I figure I need to wait until v16 and _hope_ it will be fixed then...

 

That's odd! Something is wrong with your PC's BIOS or its settings.

By any chance are you using a USB hub of any kind? If so that would need drivers installed from Windows and the BIOS wouldn't see it. You have to use a USB port directly from the mother board.

 

A USB Hub is plugged in, however, the drives connected are not switched on, i.e. they are not visible in Windows, until I plug the adapters in.
That said, F12 isn't mentioned in the manual anywhere. I did some searching but could find a solution, likely because I have an old motherboard, Asus Maximus II Formula.

I would think that the F12 option would be pretty much a standard BIOS thing. Have you tried it?

 

This error in event viewer appears because of a race condition in the User-Mode Driver Framework (UMDF) driver. Appearing depends on other device and software drivers installed in the system.

There should not be neccesarily exclamation mark (it would appear if a conflict with WUDFRd happened during installation of BlockMounter or other User-Mode Driver).
So hotfix can be applied in this case as well.

 

Downloaded the hotfix (the right one) and installed it.

"Not applicable for this machine"


Went on to check what I could on Windows Driver Foundation - User mode driver framework

a) services.msc : 'manually'
b) msconfig.exe : 'stopped'

I don't know, does this have something to do with it??
Pls note that I haven't touched these entries: I wouldn't know what they are used for.

What if I simply pulled out the USB Hub?

Also.. is this definitely the cause of the Paragon's "Block device mounter"-error??
i.e. if I were to detach the usb-hub, then the error would not occur?

1. kb978977 - did not solve the matter, there was nothing to be updated (see screenshots in my previous post)
2. the usb-hub has been removed/detached (rebooted thereafter)
3. paragon hdm v15 installed
4. eventlog errors still remains (note: they were gone after Paragon Harddisk Manager was un-installed...)
5. example: record# 10998 (at the bottom) - blockmounter.dll could not be found (??), record# 10999 msvcp100.dll not be found.. they are everywhere.
6. in services




FWIW in services I activated "Windows Driver Foundation - Usermode driver Framework" set to "Automatic" and rebooted the pc.
