    I personally think that article is garbage. First of he says now XP is totally vulnerable. I say nonsense. Also that only tested the standard fare. I've not patched XP for several years but protect it with a combo if Appguard, Sandboxie and NVT's ERP. I'd like to see the test with that combo.

    Perhaps you missed the point.

    He was testing AV products to see if they detected the attempted attack of the vulnerabilities.

    "The testers used the Metasploit penetration testing tool to generate 54 exploits using different methods to attack seven known vulnerabilities. They specifically used exploits based on vulnerabilities in XP itself, since third-party tools are still getting updates. Some used obfuscation and evasion techniques that might help them slip past security protection. A product had to both detect the attack and prevent execution of the payload in order to earn credit for protecting against the exploit."

    No I got the point. But when he states XP is now open to vulnerabilities, that is misleading. He should have stated he is testing against the vulnerabilities to see if AV's can handle them.
