In the settings I tried to change the Update time "Every one hour" between 6.00 AM to 10.00 PM but it doesn't accept the PM notification...also the initial scan
took quite a long time. Beside that everything is running smooth so far.

Thanks. We will look into the time issue. May I ask what type of scan you ran?

No problem w/ the old shield there was some art and some design time put into it...OA firewall was very well laid out even a novice could use it...It's the
metro-style your using....Like I said if you look at how Kaspersky did there metro style very polished....As a long time user I'm just giving my opinion here,I'm not saying I won't use the program just because I don't like the metro style... :)

A lot of art and design time went into the new shield as well. But I guess there is no point in arguing about personal preference and taste.

Which specific use case do you find easier in Online Armor compared to Emsisoft Internet Security?

Specific examples would be helpful. Which dialog in Kaspersky do you prefer over a comparable dialog in EIS and why for example? Screenshots would be quite helpful as well. Please help me understand your point of view better :).

Good Morning! I'm amazed so far at how bug free this release is, boot-up is flawless...surfing to web sites is encountering zero lag...no problems with Adobe Flash...my only critique is with the GUI...the Emsisoft Shields...should still be incorporated in it's design...otherwise the Metro Graphic comes across as bland and one dimensional...the main page Metro look is okay...providing clarity and ease of use. So far can't complain whatsoever. On another subject...what will be the duration of this beta? and I currently have a license for EAM V8...I suspect I'll have to buy a new license for the EIS 9...will the time remaining on my EAM license be transferrable ? And will their be Special Intro Pricing for Wilders Beta Testers and Forum Members? Sincerely...Securon

No complaints thus far here, using EIS9 beta on test laptop (Win 8.1 Update 1 64bit)
    Liking the 'smart' firewall.
    Nice work all :thumb:
Looking forward to release very much.

Hi Securon, I have the same question for Fabian as I also have two licenses for EAM until December 2014. Hope you are doing well these days.:)

Fabian did say in his opening post that:
I should imagine the same key will work when the product goes final too, until it expires of course.

I'm testing out Emsisoft Internet Security right now. So far, it seems fantastic and is fast on my system. Great job!

(Aside from the tiny issue of it not wanting to show buttons in the screen resolution I've always preferred--800 X 600. That's easy to fix, though--I just switched to 1024 X 768

Can you perhaps post some screen-shots of the behavior blocker? Has the BB also been improved? :)

    the firewall alerts are confusing

if you choose allow once no rule is created
(I would assume that particular action would be allowed henceforward,
or at least a checked box saying create rule)

if you choose allow always only one rule, for the specific action, is created
(but in the box it reads no further alerts will be shown at all)

if you click create custom rule a window shows mixing the behaviour blocker
    and the firewall,
so one is left without knowing which custom rule we're talking about,
and if you choose that and then go to application rules
there are no rules created specific to the firewall, but the alerts are supressed

I know. We just had a conversation about them internally today and came to the same conclusion. They will be changed with one of the next beta releases. Thank you for your feedback :).

We don't have a date set in stone. Unless for some miraculous reason almost no major issues creep up, we will take at least 2 months for the public test. Other than that, we stick to our "when it's ready" mantra. We will know it is ready for release, when no bugs we consider release blockers are left. Most likely about a week before it happens.

There will be ways to convert or upgrade your existing licenses. Unless the Wilders staff has any objections, I am also sure a promotional offer can be arranged. Not to mention that we do provide free licenses to all our products to users who try to help us hunt down bugs that we have a hard time to reproduce internally :).

    @Fabian

Finally... some of us have been waiting on an integrated Emsisoft Internet Security since your killing of OAP++.

Is it then to be concluded OAP's Domains (Banking Mode), Programs (HIPS), Autoruns and Anti-Keylogger modules have been retired?

Can you please post up screenshots of:
    The firewall warning View details.
    That Custom monitoring pull-down.
    The Firewall Incoming tab panel.
    Ditto Outgoing.
    The Add new/Edit rule dialogue(s).

The new GUI looks fine. You should immediately stop responding to any critiques of its appearance as any efforts to that end are nothing more than a waste of bandwidth. Consider Malwarebytes' Rubber Ducky's recent posting:
"Half the world thinks 1.75 looked too old but it was simple, half the world thinks 2.0 looks great. I'm personally losing my mind."

Ignore the poser prattle and concentrate on the the technical. Cheers.

Behavior blocker alerts look pretty much the same as File Guard detections. We made several improvements to the behavior blocker as part of the EAM/EIS 9.0 development, but all of them were backported to 8.1 and have already been available for quite some time. So compared to 8.1, there are no larger changes. That being said, we do plan some bigger and more visible improvements for 9.1 :).

Good Afternoon! Thanks for your participation with us during this Beta release. I can tell you even though it's in Beta this release is 99% as impressive as your competitors Release Products. And I like Emsisoft's Philosophy in regards to Product Cultivation...and Readiness. You're leaders in my books in Achieving and Surpassing Best Product and Customer Experience Practices. Bravo! Sincerely...Securon

Pretty much, yes. Programs, Autoruns and Anti-Keylogger protection are already covered by the behavior blocker, just with a lot less noise. The Banking Mode is obsolete given the current financial threat and internet server landscape. Plus, the behavior blocker takes care of banking malware pretty well as shown by the MRG tests.

The English language files haven't been changed yet, so the buttons still refer to File Guard instead of the firewall component.

Custom button opens the application rule dialog. The firewall incoming and outgoing panels look like this:

    Application rules:

However, there are also packet rules to control network traffic that isn't bound to specific applications:

Actually, I disagree. First of all, you always need to rule out that it isn't just a graphical glitch. For example, we had some testers complain that the GUI looked horrible. Turned out, there were problems with the font rendering on some systems, that actually did make the GUI look horrible. In addition it is exceptionally rare that people just dislike a user interface due to appearances and personal taste. They often have very valid usability concerns worth listening to and honestly, that is part of being a software developer just as the "technical" parts are in my opinion.

Fabian, your behavior blocker is already too effective to be used for marketing purposes. Whereas your competitors can advertise the implementation of new modules against this and that (key logging, banking mode, etc), you already have everything covered with the behavior blocker.
