Not as bad as I thought it'd be, despite obvious "IE and Chrome are doing it this way, we will too!" logic.

I don't get the removal of the add-on bar at all. In the previous Firefox there was always an option to show/hide it- why not continue on with that? They just took away of 7+ years of my muscle memory of using Noscript by clicking it on the add-on bar. Oh, and add-ons like Forecastfox that relied on the add-on bar are now done for.

I really need to use an add-on to restore the add-on bar Mozilla? Come on... That's stupid and you know it.

The new background tabs are annoying, with a lot of tabs open it's harder to distinguish between background tabs. I don't get the change, the difference between background tabs and the open tab was already sufficient, you already were able to see the open tab in the blink of an eye.

Couldn't agree more, first they kill the statusbar and replace it with the add-on bar, then they kill that as well.

I also like placing the NoScript button in the Addon bar. To continue doing it the old way, I installed Classic Theme restorer. This is how my Firefox looks after making some changes.

Is there any way to get the current tabs under the bookmarks toolbar besides using Classic Theme Restorer extension? I use Cyberfox but just want to keep Firefox up to date. Thank you!

Status-4-Evar will get you a fully functional status bar and I have been using it since version 4 or whenever they first started trying to hide the progress bar. For the complaint about the background tabs, maybe ColorfulTabs is your answer.

I tried ColorfulTabs and unfortunately it causes the tabs to revert to rectangles.

This is a nice improvement. Chrome has had the leanest, nicest, most logical interface and Firefox is starting to catch up.

Gone is the menu bar or the options starter taking vertical space. I don't want see that bloat in a browser. As an older person I originally liked that menu bar idea, but learning from Chrome experience, it is totally redundant. I notice though that the client area of Firefox is still smaller than Chrome's. Seems the bookmark bar has more height. Possible to get it smaller?

I disliked the tabs under the bookmark bar in Firefox. Now it is as it should be. It is logical with the program tabs on the Windows desktop too, when thinking like a browser itself is a small sub desktop.

I have been using FF since it was still called Firebird, but not the original Phoenix one. Recently I slowly changed preferring Chrome over FF and I hope this new UI makes me start use FF more again.

Thank you for those links, they might help someone with a small screen. Myself I use an external 21.5 '' monitor besides my laptop 15.6 '', so that is not that big a problem.

Trying to avoid addons for now as much as possible. No mouse gestures for instance. For safety's sake.

I do have NoScript and even AdBlock plus and I just come to think of it, disabled marc-marc's Calculator. It is a nice program and I can always enable it running Firefox sandboxied.
Maybe I should disable AdBlock plus too.

There are a lot of addons like these emerging, this one for example is only 22k, and it has ten times the number of reviews and users.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/?src=search

The problem is with all these new addons is that you don't know if they can be trusted. It has happened a few times already that Mozilla removed addons that turned out to be malicious and had were already downloaded quite a lot. And even if they're allright, bad coding could slow down the browser, have memory leaks etc.

How did you get the open tab(s) down where it "belongs?" I hate the tabs on top! Is it an about:config setting? Thank you!
Disregard, as I figured it out!

Sure! Open the Classic Theme Restorer and I believe it is the first drop down menu. The last option is Tabs on top true or false. Of course false. No space is gained having them on top. I can't understand why anyone would want to move the mouse a greater distance to manage open tabs!

Well, I would like Firefox to read my mind and shuffle the UI elements in real time to reduce mouse movement LOL, but realistically I have to prioritize and since I go for the bookmarks bar and navigation bar more frequently than the tabs it's best for the tabs to be at the top. :)

I don't use the bookmark bar so when I am browsing, it is more comfortable to have tabs not on top. Until version 28, you could make the browser that way though about:config.

I use all about the same, but I switch between tabs mostly by CTRL+TAB instead of using the mouse.
I just put tabs on the bottom to try it out, feels a bit weird at first, but I guess that's logical after using tabs on top for years :)

Toolbar Fight! lol That is a good point! I mostly use the bookmarks toolbar too. With the tabs all the way on top, one has to pass through all the other toolbars if they do indeed need to get to them with the mouse. The thing is, and I suppose it's just from looking at my layout for years, I hated the look and feel of it. The real irony though, is the fact that I probably use Ff less than I use IE 11, which is probably about 98/99% less than I use my default browser Cyberfox. I just wanted Firefox up to date for security purposes. Toady will have a new version of Cf out shortly with its own profile.

Here is a good replacement for the Add-on bar.

Not out to spoil a 'new version party', but reading up on new FF 29 security improvements link, I still wonder about the Mozilla reaction when it became known, that chief TLS at Mozilla, Eric Rescorla has worked for the NSA to wreck encryption.
And to wreck it successfully. See the post on WSF link

Mr Rescorla has helped the NSA to make a really bad algorithm even worse.
So he has proven to be proficient at encryption (otherwise the NSA wouldn't have asked him) and I don't mind anyone changing careers.
Going from learning encryption at uni to wrecking encryption for the NSA to improving it at Mozilla, isn't all illogical.
It's just that the Mozilla 'No comment' reaction is so meager.
Anyone else having second thoughts on this (Mozilla/FF) or should I take an extra anti-paranoia pill?

I updated to Cyberfox 28.0.1 and my browser session manager and bookmarks were gone!

I had to reinstall the session manager and copy over my session files and bookmarks from Firefox... which thankfully I hadn't updated.

All is well now but be aware Australis may trash your previously saved customizations and you will need to manually restore them.
