ABP 2.6 appears to incorporate the "don't delay Firefox startup" changes. I don't know how things settled, but in light of:

    https://adblockplus.org/development-builds/faster-firefox-startup
It might be a good idea to carefully watch and test its behavior, particularly if your Firefox encounters ads shortly after startup. If you see ads getting through, please let the rest of us know.

Based on something I saw earlier this week with ABP 2.5.1, involving redirects that should have been blocked but weren't, I'd also suggest keeping an eye on redirect blocking. Specifically cases like:

    1) Visiting http://example.com
    2) Triggers request for http://example.com/image.gif
    3) Which redirects to http://othersite.foo/image.gif?info=XYZ&site=example.com
    4) Which redirects back to http://example.com/image.gif?info=XYZ&info2=ABC

Where there is a ||othersite.foo^ rule to block requests. In the example I saw, the image request redirects to othersite.foo weren't blocked. I have a suspicion that a redirect blocking limitation that was once eliminated may have crept back in, but I haven't had time to do followup testing to verify this.

When I update to 2.6 (possibly next week) I'll look into these myself.

It really bugs me that I have to make sure I have a Chrome window open before I click any link outside of a browser (in another application) to eliminate the possibility of the page loading before the addon does. I can't fathom why on earth they thought this would be a good change for Firefox. Yeah great you saved 2 seconds of loading the browser, wow.

    On the OT -

Some are reporting that new builds of Adblock Edge is adding a Toolbar.

This has, as of yet - to be fully substantiated.

Shooting from the hip here: that doesn't look like a toolbar proper but rather a Firefox maintained stash/cache of icon bitmaps that wasn't meant to be visible. Conceptually, the delayed startup could be the triggering factor and it is interesting that the other guy found that it happens with both Adblock Edge 2.1.1 and Adblock Plus 2.6. Both of which have delayed startup, but share other code too.

I'd punt it to the Adblock Edge and Adblock Plus developers and let them zero in on the problem. Which could have something to do with their code and/or Firefox code.
