Actually Windows 8.1 has been proven to be as fast, and in some cases - as light as many Linux Distros. It's actually a very effecient operating system that runs very well on older hardware. My wifes old XP-Laptop actually FEELS like it got a hardware upgrade when I put Windows 8.1 on it. So much so, she asked 'what did I do' to it to make it so fast. So I really don't see your point here?

Back on topic.. Regardless of how an AV scores on synthetic tests, that has no bearing on other, sometimes more important aspects to a product. How does it perform? Does it slow down a machine? Are there bugs? Browsing speed impacted? Support from the company? There are many aspects to considering a product, not just raw performance on synthetic tests. For me, I consider performance on synthetic tests to actually be one of the lowest metrics I look it. It's really much more important to have a solid, bug free, and easy to use product for my clients. If you base what you use on synthetic test scores - I have news for you - you will be switching products often, spending too much on licenses, and generally in a state of perpetual unhappiness with the products. But if you find a product based on more important metrics, I guarantee you will stick with it, save money, and live a happier life.

We wouldn't be here discussing this if 360 worked properly, was supported properly, etc. Instead we find the company not even answering concerns about this for some time, and then not updating their process addressing these concerns. Shouldn't you factor that in your decisions? I certainly would! Then we find people, such as yourself, actually uninstalling a perfectly good, speedy, and well constructed operating system - reverting back to an old, unsupported, and fairly sloppy operating system so they can use a security product? That's lunacy. Pure lunacy.

In 3 months or less you will be running something else, I won't be.

Total security taking long time to come out ?! I think they will add a firewall too it, thats probebly why its taking so long ...... a total security whithout a firewall is like a car whithout an engine ;)

No, it's like thinking a racing car without racing stripes is not a racing car.

Aside from that these terms like 'Total Security' or 'Total Protection' are silly marketing drivel anyway. Of course they have to add something to justify its existence. But I concur that, from a marketing standpoint, to increase the userbase (more users = more monetarily valuable personal information), a third-party firewall is an absolute necessity. People are simply too convinced they need them and they will always prefer products which offer them.

Well another thing that I would love to see in coming versions, is the ability to see scan option even in Total Commender right click menu.

    Thanks for the heads up!

So, no firewall and five AV engines confirmed but only 4 are listed - 360 Cloud Engine / QVMII / Avira and Bitdefender - I wonder which is the fifth and how it works under the hood ... all engines scan a file or a first engine checks a file and if the result is clean other engines are not engaged or ... ?

Wow, impressive. If I didn't buy Bitdefender for 7.5$ I would be running 360 Total security right away. Post your impressions about this new monster, gentlemen, please.

I've been sitting on this a long time and I think now is the appropriate time to ask this.

Is this product in any way affiliated with Anderson Cooper 360?

    Just kidding... :D

Compared with 360 Internet Security, I feel 360 Total Security a step back in features, with the exception of it adding Avira on the top of Bitdefender.

    Good points:
    Includes Avira, and Bitdefender engines.

    Bad points:
    Only English and Chinesse
    Only x86
    2.1.0.1156 beta

Thanks for the comparison! I am keen, and I believe I am not alone, to get more direct comparisons of Internet and Total Security. So, those who tried the both applications please share your findings.

Can someone who already tried the new TS inform what is the fifth AV engine? The leaflet speaks only about 360 Cloud Engine / QVMII / Avira and Bitdefender.
