    Hello,

I am in big trouble and hope to get some help here...

After connecting a stick to my computer, my internal hard drive (which is divided into two partitions - C for the system and D for the documents) suddenly does not recognize the D partition, showing it to be a RAW.
I thought I'll first make a image of the computer on my external hard drive (further on named F), but as I connected this one with the PC, it also is now shown being a RAW.
The files on the D partition that were not encrypted are now safe on a second external hard drive (named E), but the files that are encrypted are still unusable...
The external drive F was encrypted as a whole with truecrypt.

I still now my password for the encrypted files and my partition C does not show any kind of errors.

Furthermore I am using Windows 7.

Any kind of help would be awsome, cause all my live (literary) is saved on those two drives (D and F).

    Best Regards

    Elias

Your post/question is confusing. When I started to read it you made it sound like the system disk C is encrypted and the D partition is also encrypted. However I quoted part of your post above and I/we can't tell if your partition D is encrypted or not. On an encrypted partition (device based) all files are encrypted when the partition is dis-mounted. Can you please explain your configuration so we can try and help.

Additionally, you mentioned that the "problem" happened when you put a stick in your computer. What was that, and what did you intend to do with the stick in the first place?

Windows 7 should show RAW when it attempts to read any TC partition that isn't mounted. The reason is that the OS cannot see a recognized filesystem.

I wish I could just peel off an answer for you but I am confused about the configuration. Please clarify and someone may be able to assist.

    Hi Palancar,

    Well I named the partitions:
    - Internal hard drive is divided into C and D.
D has normal files and "one" encrypted volume and is now shown as RAW.
C is where all programs are installed. It is working fine.
    - The external hard drive F was encrypted as a whole and is also shown as RAW.

The problem occurred when a friend of mine gave me a bootable stick with the windows operating system on it.
He is using linux and wanted to create a partition with windows on it, but his lapop said there is nothing bootable on the stick.
So I tried to see if it would boot on a windows laptop.

Hope I made myself understandable :)

    Regards

    Elias

I now know what you did and I have seen it on hundreds of threads. Are you a member at TrueCrypt forums (Rhetorical question)? I along with Dan and several other LTRM's have posted many times about this. A windows install disk kills many encrypted partitions every month. If you do a search on the subject there you will see dozens of threads to read through. I am busy today so this is the fastest way to get you what you need. You are another one of literally thousands that have made the same mistake. If you can't find what you need there come back and let us know.
