    Sorry, forum software glitch. weirdness.
I do want to state for the record that 360 Internet Security is been every bit as dependable as the trust I place in Shadow Defender! I can hardly believe that i've finally found an AV after all these years & Windows models that has won over my confidence in every way to sunday.

I sent an e-mail to Qihoo about the computer hanging since updating to Windows 8.1.1. They wrote back saying they have noticed the problems too and there will be an update for the product soon.

That's clear answer. Very good. I wouldn't expect their reply. I thought that they will silently release an update and end of story. If we consider 360 IS is free of charge, they're doing a great job. I am glad I was mistaken in Qihoo.

Some replies to user reviews on Google Play which are negative or don't rate an application with the full 5 star rating resemble automatic replies. Those reviews are answered by "Please let us know details of the problem by emailing ... Thank you!" or something similar. They deliberately encourage users to write them but they never reply as is my and my friends experience.

I have to disagree, Pegas. I have posted with less than 5 stars a couple of times and Qihoo responded both times. For example I was critical in my review (1 star) of the fact that the Android version of 360 will install security patches to apps automatically but if you uninstall Qihoo it takes those patches with them. An unethical practice in my opinion and I told them so. They responded and it was not an automated response. Just my experience.

Wouldn't the Windows Update after the 8.1 Update 1 (KB2933809) fix the freezing issue, or are users still experiencing problems after this update?

I am glad you have good experience with Qihoo, which btw I didn't mean. But look at reviews of KS Mobile applications, that's another story.

No, it didn't. Got my system screwed once more by 360 IS and it was a pain the back side to recover it in the end.

    Screw Microsoft!

Holy Cow! Just what I suspected. Thanks for sharing your god awful experience with 8.1. I'm not a psychic by no means but my gut feelings have never let me down and just like on Windows XP when I refused to SP3 I have those same misgivings over 8.1 and your experience confirms it enough for me.

Well after finally biting the bullet & installing Windows 8.1 x64 pro I gave 360 a shot due to Bitdefender AV+ adding a minute to the boot time & 360 does seem to have issues with Windows 8.1 update 1, freezing & couldn't run other apps or even open task manager, hopefully they will get that fixed ASAP.

Update 1 installed without issue on Windows 8.1 (360 not installed). Everything ran smoothly and I made a disk image at that point. Glad I did because installing 360 made the computer hang. A couple of reboots sorted that out ..mostly. The odd program or two would still hesitate to open. Went back using the disk image made before the installation of 360 and all was well again. I hope the 360 update comes soon. I was starting to get used to it and like the fact that it has a sandbox.

I see where 360 has set up a forum on their facebook page and it seems that they are answering or at least acknowledging with something other than a robot .

Disturbing that as of today, they have not posted a warning or statement of reported issues & problems of incompatibility with latest build Windows 8.1 on 360 safe website ( same goes for C-Net download.com ) ..........

Oh please.. Don't blame Windows 8.1 for some third world security product not working on an update. That's the fault of the product. Every other product in the world, including all other security products work fine under Windows 8.1 Update 1. Put the blame where it belongs. Also, there is no nightmare about 8.1. It's solid as a rock, and so much faster than even XP. My security camera server has been running - uninterupted - without any bugs on Windows 8.1 for nearly a month without a reboot. When I ran it under XP I had to reboot it every few days. Go ahead, enjoy your non-supported OS with the third world AV.

PS: Every 360 product I have ever tried resulted in the same thing - problems.

I agree that it must have more to do with the AV than the OS (despite the latter's reported flaws), but that's way too harsh on a legitimate and quality product that will likely get fixed soon anyway. But in a way, I envy you - if I said the same about a certain AV/vendor I detest which has time and time again shown to actually deserve this insult, I'd have been banned then and there, or had my post deleted at best.

I am more than a bit surprise to learn that people are actually downgrading their OS just so they can continue using a specific AV. This is the 2nd such comment I've seen in the past few days.
Doc, you and I rarely agree on anything but I gotta go with you there.

Oh yes I'm quite familiar with those rabid statement types. another user who has a special yet involuntary viewpoint which is a little bit biased toward a software he currently is using!
well, it's probably because you are stuck in a time machine or something coming from the ice age. but FYI, firstly China isn't a third world country. seriously you need to be upgraded (an update simply won't work). besides it's totally irrelevant to determine a software's quality by referring to the place it's been developed. it's 21st century and softwares are rated by valid certified companies.

I also wasn't blaming win 8.1 for 360 problems with it. It is my general thought about win 8.1. and it wasn't enough bcuz it's worse than a nightmare.

Secondly, the product which you hardly try to bash, is doing far greater than what you frustratingly hope it does. just have a look at the latest results of av-c and av test, there're much you need to see and keep up with.

thirdly, never in a thousand years win 8.1 would be faster than xp! (except the boot time). however, I didn't say I'm a xp lover! Basically I prefer open-source OSes like Linux over windows. I installed XP on the home's public computer. every body including my parents use this Computer. mostly it's offline therefore there's almost no risk of infection. Normally I'm not a braggy kind of person. but for me being infected by malwares is a great news . actually it's a hobby of mine to run malwares on my real machine and challenging my skills to get my machine cleaned up. so you don't have to worry about me cuz I know what I'm doing, even when my OS is AV-less, I know how to protect my system with bare hands better than you guys do when relying on your security suits.

    4. check these out rough guy!

I think of win 8 as a weak draft of windows 9 . just like vista was a draft of windows 7. Even Microsoft knows and agrees how badly things are fallen into this undeniable mess and just proved it with that massive update 1 (it's notable microsoft didn't name it a Service pack : D) ;)
