Seeing that the default style has been adjusted, now I've switched back to it.

Just FYI, GZ is referring to a few tweaks I made today. The separator between posts while reading a thread was too faint, so, most people had trouble seeing where one post ended and the next began. Also, the quote box color was still the xF defaults, not our blue shades. That's been fixed. Some outline lines were also adjusted. And the page numbers were also in the xF default colors - now they are blue shaded, too.

I was always planning on making those changes because quite frankly those things bothered me from the start. I think the default style will be easier on those using it with these changes.

And we say thank you very much for the adjustments. :thumb:

Just switched to Default, to see the changes...However, they must be subtle, because it looks pretty much the same to me. Sore eyes!

Handy to have that switcheroo button in the bottom left-hand corner.;)

I will respond, first I must say, I did NOT get an alert for this post as I did with hqsec's posts where he tagged me just like you did, really confused now. And I have not changed any setting since yesterday. Hmmm :doubt:

Yeah, Dark Screen is good. But I like both of them so I will keep both :thumb:

I see, that could be why we get different alert messages. :)

The options I have enabled is ->

    Receive an alert when someone...

    1. Replies to a watched thread
    4. Tags you in a message

OK, that explains it. If more than one alert is produced by a post (let's say quoting and tagging) user gets only one alert. In my case quoting is mentioned in alert and tagging not...

Yeah I think so too. But I don't understand why I didn't get a tag alert for this post by MrBrian: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...tyle-do-you-prefer.362410/page-4#post-2361050

I haven't placed him on the ignore list yet :p

(I did get a tag alert for your post above like yesterday)

@hqsec The only difference is that I was not online on the forum when MrBrian made that post, but I have been online everytime you have posted a post with @SweX in it.

@SweX: glad you like Dark Screen, and glad to know I'm not yet on your ignore list (that might change in time) :p.

There we go, I did get a tag alert for this post by MrBrian, but again I was online/logged-in now when he posted it. Maybe it was a coincidence last time we'll see how it goes in the future. Or maybe we're not supposed to get alert messaged unless one is online when the post including the tag is being published.

    Don't you worry @MrBrian you're too kind for that. :-* :D

I have actually started to enjoy the forum software more and more, well ok I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I do without the vB style. It's a small learning curve when it comes to the forum functions. But I must say it feels better and better each day. :thumb:

MUCH better. But still I prefer the distinctly separate posts in Fluid. It is far easier on the eyes having separate boxes for each post rather than a line.

Also, the buttons are terrible. In Fluid, the buttons are large and distinct "Report" or "Reply". In default they are tiny text. I understand why "Report" is small but the "Reply" button? Probably the most commonly used function on a forum, it should be extremely prominent, not tiny text at the side like some kind of dismissed afterthought that no one uses.

I'm fine with the default for the most part. If given a choice though, I would like there to be a "Night" or "Dark" style...white text on a black background. That would be easier on the eyes; especially in dark area or at night time. Anyone else thinks so?

I like it the way it used to be... period. And it's not just about cosmetics either. I never used to have to allow scripts or cookies to log in here and post... now I must allow both. Not my idea of "progress" at all...

Totally agree. Far too many scripts that monitor the mouse.
    Listen: click
    Listen: mousedown
    Listen: contextmenu
    timer

I don't consider allowing scripts and cookies on this site to be dangerous. Administrators can check if some scripts can be disabled without breaking forum functionality, but I don't think that this is possible.

Why did admins set this ugly theme as the default one for wilders? Wouldn't it be more wise to make a poll first and then set default?

The admins know better than us all. This isn't a democracy. At least Fluid is provided to those who want an alternative view. I don't see any problems at all.

Honestly, I like the XF default theme better now.

The admins perhaps know better when it comes to administering this website. But if the choice between themes was only based on looks then it would have been wiser to ask the audience what they prefer.
Now if you want to rule this site as a military dictatorship to advance your political/personal believes then by all means :) but I always thought of this as a community friendly site.
