Does this also apply to people who have fun learning security software and other software or only to those who have fun learning forum software?

I think you can figure that out for yourself.

Search links are not shareable, otherwise, people could simply step through them all by incrementing the search id number and see what other people are searching. This way, they stay private.

I have no idea. I'd guess the search he did was related to the comment he was making.

A quick question: Do any of you see me in the "Recent Activity" tab?

    My case:
    • I can not see both of our activities in the Recent Activity tab in Guest view.
    • I can see both of our activities in the Recent Activity tab when logged-in.
I wonder which one in the account setting that triggers this. Can we hide ourselves from everyone in the Recent Activity tab?

I double-checked and I got similar results. It might be an option "People who may receive your news feeds." I got it set to Members only.

Interesting tip, but not this case. By the way, I was just writing a post and I was forcibly logged out and it even crashed my browser. :argh:

When I changed that setting to All visitors, my activity was shown in Guest view.

It would be outstanding if LWM could do something with the online/offline status indicator to more closely proximate what used to be.
I bring this up at the risk of being told I am afraid of change.

I think some of the problems that some of us have with Default style have nothing to do with getting used to change or learning new stuff but it has to with not being able to comfortably read or concentrate on what we are reading. In my personal case, if I spend more than 5 minutes using Default, I get a headache. There is nothing to be done about that other than not using the style that causes the headache. In my case, it is not healthy to use Default, if we didn't have Fluid available, I could not stay around here for more than 5 minutes.

Nevertheless, this new format, and this thread in particular, has awakened the "afraid of change" chanters, when in fact, what is actually happening is members are experiencing issues as you have described, or they are asking for assistance or even expressing dissatisfaction with the change. It's inevitable that the "afraid of change" line gets hurled about, most often by folks who do not AGREE with the expressions of dismay, so they categorize all complaints as fear. I think this probably makes them feel bold, because according to their own view, they are not afraid. Thank Heaven we have them among us to show us the way.

So I guess that's the option. Funny to think that there's no option for "nobody" or something like that.

Perhaps "Show online status" preference could be renamed (if possible) to something like "Show current activity." "Show online status" could be confused with showing whether a user is online or offline.

Has anyone mentioned that posts are no longer dated. Instead they are labelled Monday, Tuesday, etc. I prefer to have the date.

Uh... if somebody already mentioned this, I apologize. I just hated to do a search on such a common word as "date."

I agree. Date is better than the day of the week.

Yes, I agree with you. I also prefer to have a date (day/hour) (for all posts [for older ones anyway this method is kept by XenForo too]). But this strange method with "40 Minute ago", "yesterday", "5 days ago" etc. seems to have become quite popular nowadays. I have seen it in other sites too.

    Ah, interesting. Thanks.
