What was the last released version prior to version 1.3.0.7 and does anyone have quick access to the link.

    Thanks,

    Pete

I think that was after 3.0.7, I think what I want is either 20 or 26. May have to try finding it in this thread.

    Thanks,

    Pete

Oh right. The one before that was the original, V1.2.0.1120. I type too slow, the Rollback frog got it to you.

After flawless AX-ing for many months, my v 1.4.0.19 stopped working about a week ago...and um, I didn't notice until yesterday. Keep getting Error: C0FFFFFF Code 0 on both automatic hourlies and manual attempts.

Have submitted a ticket, and thus far, one of the guys has had me switch VSS to automatic (it was on manual), then update to v 1.4.1.48.

Still a problem. Although I have Macrium Reflect, it feels quite vulnerable without AX64 functioning.

I just asked support to step up their attention on this.

    Just saying...

Thanks Froggie. I was looking for 20 and also for 33 which my buddy Acadia sent me. Build 36 is working beautifully on my two desktops. But I couldn't get it to work on my thinkpad. At one time it did, and I think it was either 20 or 33 so I am going to test.

Yes, that was a typo, it should indeed have been AX

Try starting a new chain. I have seen this on my wifes PC and she has a smallish storage drive. If I start a new chain (and dump the old one to free up space) all is well again. Perhaps you have the same situation.

Well I'm not sure what happened...

I was trying to update the drivers for my GPU to the latest Nvidia drivers (337.50) and it failed.. Failed so badly that I couldn't even go back to earlier drivers..

But hey, good thing I made a snapshot right before installing the drivers, eh? So I restored the backup I made aaaand then all applications crashed on startup and I could do pretty much nothing.. (sad face here) So I decided to go back further one step... same issue with that backup. (Btw I've tried multiple cold restores) and at this point I realized that for a working backup I would have to go back several weeks (assuming those weren't bad too!) so I decided to just re-install instead and copy over whatever data I could save from the backups...

I have no idea what happened or how it happened.. Wish there at least was something that can tell you if the snapshots are bad or some link in the chain is bad, otherwise it might end as in my case, complete re-install. Good thing is that I finally got to re-installing Windows XD I guess the previous installation wasn't really that healthy, sudden freezes and lots of unnecessary programs etc.. Feels good having a "clean" OS again. :)

This is pretty scary IMO. So far I recall only 2 or 3 posts where cold restore did not work. Did you open a support ticket?

Having the occasional hot restore fail is one thing. But getting cold restore failures makes the whole software unusable.

I recall times when Isso would have jumped in after such a post immediately. Sadly these times seem to be over. Is anyone still working on AX64, or is this just a cultural difference between the SF Bay Area and Down Under?

    Cheers

I'm gonna hazard a guess and say that there has been a legal hiccup over the amalgamation of the two parties, or the money hasn't been paid...No salaries or bills being met.

I don't think that the cold restore really failed, I think that the backups/snapshots were somehow corrupt, some link in the chain was probably broken which affected all later points as well, I could probably have found the corrupt link if I would have gone further back but the thing is if I were to go that far back then I might just as well re-install Windows which I was planing to do anyway because of some other issues with that installation.

Right now I've re-installed Windows 8, updated to Windows 8.1 and now to Windows 8.1 update 1, I've also saved the data I need from the last snapshot, things like configuration files etc and I've now deleted the old snapshots and started a new chain and as far as I can tell it is working fine now. :)

Sanya... saving data (if using AX64 to do so via partition MOUNT or copying through the AX64 browser) pretty much means the entire incremental save set was in pretty good shape, especially if some of those data saves were from previous snapshots (older data). Since the partition you use for the saving is constructed from all those incrementals, including the baseline... it appears to me that the "chain" was just fine. If it wasn't, the chance of getting your hands on even stuff in that last snapshot would be pretty slim (the Windows disk structure is spread all over those snapshots).

Too bad you deleted all those older snaps... they could have been useful in troubleshooting this problem.

Well then I don't really know why that happened, perhaps an error with a previous backup that like didn't save certain system files? I don't know.. Either way I deleted them because I need the space now that I'm starting a new chain, also I wouldn't want to share them because a) It was around 128 GB if I remember correctly, I don't really want to spend all that time transferring it.. and b) they contain sensitive and personal information that I do not want to share.

Honestly as weird as it might sound I am glad it, for whatever reason, failed, simply because I now have a cleaner OS without all that junk and it feels good and runs smooth and not a single freeze so far.

I'll see if I can recover the files using software but even then I'm not sure what good it would do without sharing them. Edit: .... Didn't even find any files, even using deep scan.. whelp.

Edit: In case you mean that it was more likely the cold restore that messed up, I did try it several times, both from the.. uhm.. what is it called? Local storage? The one that you install directly anyway, and I also tried from a USB stick.

As far as I can tell, cold restore failing is very rare and what would the odds be of it happening over and over and over and over again? =S

Also I want to make it clear that I am in no way blaming AX64 for ruining my PC or anything like that, just wanted to make that clear, I love AX64 and it has saved me from a complete re-install many times. I see this one issue as a problem that was somehow my own fault, somehow I probably damaged the files or something but I don't know how, it couldn't have been that I deleted any files or anything like that (simply because I've set it up so that only AX64 files are allowed to modify the data of E:\AXTM\)

I do not know of any program that never has issues. I had many cold restore issues with Acronis TI and I had one Paragon failure. Expecting 100% reliability is unreasonable,,,,,,this is why many of us are using 2 imaging apps (its been talked about many times in this thread).

We all miss Isso, its just not the same without him. I too have wondered if he is no longer part of the project but speculation is a waste of time so I will not pursue this line of thought. I do hope he still is though.

Could someone please provide a link to the install files for version 1.3.0.7? One of my friends who I installed AX64 for is still running 1.1.0.2 and I would like to upgrade for him. Its odd that they would not be at http://www.ax64.com/other/ but they are not.

Thank you, much appreciated,,,,,,,,I am surprised to see 1.3.0.7 listed as a beta,,,,,,was it never officially released for public consumption?

I disagree. I do expect it.

I've never used two imaging apps for backups.
