    When i bought this laptop here in asia it came installed with this software ;

    http://www.webcamsurveyor.com/

    Theoretically speaking - is it possible for whoever installed it to spy on you and even your emails ?

    The laptop also came with an AV but that expired after a month if i remember rightly. The new AV i installed picked up something in this software (i'm thinking a hack given my location) and so i quarantined the file.

    Would quaratine the file disable any possibilty of spying on someone ?

    Thanks for any help.

    I don't think it would let someone spy on you but its still weird. I am guessing by briefly looking its software to monitor CCTV cameras. I would still download the ISO disc for your chosen operating system and do a fresh install so you know for sure there are not spying software's.

    I highly doubt it.

    Put a black tape on the camera like I do. Now nobody in China or elsewhere can spy on you. And it cant ever be bypassed ;)
