What Windows 8 should have looked liked

Damn, those designs look pretty good, in fact i'd love to have a theme like his concept screenshots. If MS would have thought a bit more before pulling the trigger for this crappy, useless and utterly complex start menu . . .

 

I forgot where was it mentioned but I read somewhere in this forum that Windows 9 or 8.1U2 will merge the Metro Apps into the desktop environment, next to the old-school start menu.

 

He has got some nice ideas, but can´t (some of) this stuff already be done with third party tools?

 

What MS needs to do now...

1. Hire Jay and take clues from his design concept.

2. Acquire Stardock.

 

He's done some very nice work with that. I'm sure Windows 8 is great "under the hood" but nearly completely alienating keyboard/mouse users was a massive mistake.

 

Yeah, and im pretty sure his ideas can even be polished further. So if 1 man could do this i wonder how MS ended up with the current disaster with almost unlimited resources compared to this guy.

 

Yeah Windows 8 could have made billions if they had the right design from the beginning. The big question is why and how can 1 guy come up with a concept that entire MS cannot?
Question number 2 is what is Mr. Jay still doing not working for Microsoft? Are those guys sleeping or are so delusional in their grandeur.

 

Simple, Microsoft is a multibillion dollars corporation with hell lots of employees. Ideas will conflict, and no matter how creative and good your ideas are, you'll have to follow what the chiefs said. It's different with one-man development, s/he can do anything s/he wants and likes, without boundaries, well except by their skills.

 

That's the problem with big corps.

 

One guy can do it because he has the freedom to be creative and apply common sense whereas people in corporations can do neither.

 

I think Steve Jobs was the exception. I can understand how him being a complete control freak helped apple. Microsoft needs a CEO who will have complete power and control over the corporation and of course creativity or at least common sense to see when something is good.

Stuff that should have been fixed a long time ago:

1 In Win 8.1 you can´t change the color of tooltips anymore, those morons forgot about it (bad quality control).
2 You should never have to see a horizontal scrollbar in a dialog (or any other) window. As a workaround I´m using ResizeEnable.

The other problem is that they tried too hard to combine the interface of their Mobile OS with Windows. Way tooooo hard.
