    Perhaps. My idea was to be able to read the forum with Chrome as a guest with allowing only css and img in HTTP Switchboard that is my default setting. It definately needs cookies allowed too to be able to use that Fluid style if not logged in.

    @ Rmus

    Thanks for posting :thumb: Unfortunately, even with Scripting & Cookies enabled, it didn't work. However, i was logged out @ the time, so maybe it's that ?

    @ LowWaterMark Setting FLUID in preferences did the trick :) But what about people NOT logged in, why not make Fluid the DEFAULT ?

    EDIT @ LWM - Just seen your Edit about no Default Fluid ! Also the Font changed in my previous post Without my help ? & clicking/Unclicking on BOLD is hit & miss !

    No, Ronjor, it doesn't. I'll try another browser.
    I guess I might be the only one.
    Thanks!

    Close your browser and clear the cache and try again.

    I tested with Opera, Sea Monkey, Firefox, and using that URL loads the Forum with the Fluid Style, and you can browse the Forum as Guest.

    If a user Logs In every time, then setting the Fluid Style in Preferences makes it the Default, as LWM mentioned, so the above isn't necessary.

    Wow, very nice. :thumb:

    Btw, is there also an option to keep smilies visible all the time?

    Off topic @ BoerenkoolMetWorst, I´m loving your avatar, it resembles your name. :cool:

    Use the selector (Style Chooser) at the bottom left of page. That works for guests, too.

    Doesn't bother me. One problem mentioned about long scroll to bottom of page, seems clicking End button on keyboard solves that. I'm always willing to learn. I like the look of this better than the former.

    I like the little up pointing arrow next to the name of a member whose post is being quoted.

    It's handy if only part of the post is quoted and you want to read the whole post but cannot be bothered to find it :)

    For me, viewing the forum on default style is really tiresome. Fluid makes reading comfortable and it is a hundred times better according to my taste. LWM, too bad you wont make Fluid default but I am happy I can use Fluid without having to login if I change style when I come over and I am not going to login.

    Fluid ought to be the mandatory style imo. It nicely resembles the vBulletin one.
    Let members/visitors chose another, if it doesn't suit them.
    No use for pastel yellow quotes, imao. It makes for awkward and uneasy page viewing, if you'd like to glance over a thread. White, grey and blue are enough colors. Avatars and icons provide sufficient color.
    Likely I'm just an old dog, unwilling to learn new tricks if the bonus isn't obvious right away but still.

    Icons; Let them be small. And simple.
    Not the gummy bear style, currently presented, it's a bit childish/chattery style.
    User avatars; A bit smaller would be nice. Not just because mine looks absolutely horrendous right now (trying to find a decent icon of a 50's Italian western action comic hero asap). fixed.
    Besides the *itching and the moaning, congrats on all the hard work.
    Transition seemed pretty flawless. Hats off.
    And I like the removal of the rep-like numeric poster count hierarchy.

    at least i am no fan on xenforo forums software. i hope you havent hacked it too much to apply security updates or bugfixes asap - i am member of some xf based forums with some (...) stupids among admins.

    "fluid" seems familar...

    #edit

    please move the very right column back to bottom and the user info at top again. less width = less comfort - i hate this.
    Code:
    .sidebar {
        float: right;
        font-size: 11px;
        width: 250px;
    }
    solution (stylish)
    Code:
    @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
    @-moz-document domain("www.wilderssecurity.com")
    {
    .mainContainer {margin-right: 0px !important;}
    .mainContent {margin-right: 0px !important;}
    .sidebar{display: none !important;}
    }

    AAA) And the new default style is a turn off to the old users departing.......

    BBB) You will notice the difference: How many was the visitors before, how many will be after.

    I got used to new default theme and quite like it. I think that's the one, I'll be using. I also like few new options (Watched forums, Recent posts, New posts...). Good decision to move to newer forum software. :thumb:

    I´m loving it, thanks. :D

    I´m on my old PC right now, and I´ve noticed that it´s using a lot more CPU time.

    Overall it´s a bit heavier, shouldn´t be a big problem on new PC´s, I suppose. ;)

    I'm not sure I understand this exactly. The old users have the option to set their style to the old format. Many have, and it works well. So, are you saying that some old members will leave simply because I leave that as an option they must choose, and not as the default?

    That is the problem - industry wide! Everyone is trying to make their UIs suitable for mobile users, leaving us desktop users in the lurch. Windows 8 is superior in many ways over Windows 7 but why has W8 been pretty much a failure? Because MS tried to force Desktop users to use the phone UI. Now MS is backtracking - but they will likely never recovery the $millions lost - not to mention

    I understand the business incentive for these decisions. The PC is going away, giving way to handheld portables What I don't understand is why lessons learned with W8 don't get heeded.

    I am all for change when change improves performance or increases security. And I am willing to expend some time navigating the new learning curve. But I am not for change for the sake of change, or when I end up with less and paying more - which, IMO, is what is happening here. Less because now, even with the "new retro" skin, some functionality of the old way is still missing. With the "new retro" if I preview my reply, I cannot then scroll through previous replies. This means I end up "spending" more time just trying to compose my responses to those asking questions, seeking help.

    AND, as I just discovered, because you cannot see replies, you cannot tell if someone posted a reply since you last viewed the thread. :( At least some boards will tell you a new reply has been posted while you were composing a reply.

    I also REALLY don't like when you change editors to the BB Code editor, you lose the button bar. I don't understand why it is assumed all users know BB Code syntax by memory if they don't want to use the Rich Text editor.

    Already selected. But works only when I log-in. What about when I visit without log-in?
    You wrote: "Use the selector (Style Chooser) at the bottom left of page. That works for guests, too."
    Yes, but we have to use the selector every time....

    Yes, IMHO

    OT: How to check which user is online and which is offline?

    Now I see another problem. I have received 3 email notices telling me there have been replies to this thread which means this message in those email notices is not true:

    :( and Ctrl-V does not work either. At least right-click > Paste does.

    Well, then I'm sorry about that. But, the simple fact is that no one is making old interfaces like the vb3 style today for good reasons. New devices and new users don't see such styles as attractive. Yes, us old timers got used to these, so, we like them better. But, if we hope to attract new people, we've got to have an interface that is more like the devices, sites and services they use elsewhere.

    If we stick the vB3 skin as default, its almost certain new visitors won't know there is an alternative they might like. But, long time users here do know there is an option for them. Given that, it seems like an obvious choice for me. I'll let existing members choose the style they want and leave the default as it is.

    If people want to leave over that decision, then I'm at a loss to understand it. But, I'll be sticking with this decision.

    Pre-migration offsite Wilders links will continue to work in the future, correct?
