And also interesting... If you know you'll want to include quotes from multiple posts, hitting multiple "Reply" buttons simply stacks fully quoted content into the reply box at the bottom.

So, if I'm going to comment on three posts at once, first I simply hit Reply in each of those three posts. That puts their content into the box. Then I hit More Options to get the full edit window and all the posts are waiting for me.

    From a mobile usage POV...

    1. The page fits the screen better.

    2. Unfortunately, it causes users to scroll up/down a lot more. Can't pinch and zoom in/out.

    3. Previously, when one clicks on a sub-forum, one can directly see who last posted in a thread. That was a quick way to find out if a thread has been replied to or discussion was ongoing. It's awkward not having that feature.

    4. Posting a reply is easier than it used to be. So that's another plus.

Overall, not bad. But there's room for improvement. I tried the "Fluid" style but on mobile, it's not as nice as the current default. Others here have opposite experience on desktop.

To be honest, I don´t like it at all, the old forum looked way better. Of course I will have to get used to it, but overall I´m not happy at all. :doubt:

On a more positive note, I´m amazed that the migration has gone quite well (congrats), and there are also a couple of positive things about this new forum software, it´s not all bad.

Looks like Malware Tips...everyone is doing the same thing. Must be cost effective.

But that quotes the entire post. And again, if you have already clicked More Options or Preview, you will not see any reply button. :(

I find myself not visiting as often. I visit multiple times a day anyways. But since the change the theme & colors seem cartoonish. And I feel like it's not as necessary to check for new posts. This is silly I know but the colors, the stupid conversation bubbles make me feel foolish for checking in. I have trouble justifying checking for SECURITY related topics when I'm surrounded by baby blue & pink colors with texting bubbles preceding each new post.

    Is it just me?

I simply don't like it. In time I suppose it will be OK. Lay out seemed more natural before and eyes moved more quickly over pages. Was the old version broke in some way?

    Good morning, Mike!

Congratulations on a fairly smooth transition to your new software.

I haven't noticed any difference in speed, whether reading or writing.

Looks nice, but I had to reset my password for my account. This new forum forgot it obviously.

    Hi CloneRanger,

Just edit your Speed Dial (if Opera) or Bookmark, with the Fluid Style URL to have the Forum load this style.

You can get the URL by r-clicking on the Fluid Icon in Style Chooser. Here it is:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/misc/style?style_id=2&redirect=/?styleid=4

If someone here knows how to make "node sprite" graphics, I'll be happy to put the old icons in place. (The way they are place now, it's not just a simple image swapout).

This is the source node-sprite.png that has the conversation bubble mentioned:

    node-sprite.png
    - that is one single PNG file built specically for this kind of use.

These are the old icons in separate image files:

    Any graphics worker around?

LWM, my wish is that you make 'vB 3.x -Fluid' as a default style. To me of course only and maybe some others it is a much better style than the current default. Now it works, but it seems I have to allow the wilders cookies. As a default style I think nothing else except CSS and images needed to be allowed.

You can save your choice of style in your preferences, I think.

I saved it there. Logged out - no cookies. Even emptied cache and all. Closed, reopened browser. Returned and I'm using the selected style once I login.

Edit: As for it being the default for guests. No, I am not doing that. The vB3 style is very old and often a turn off to new people arriving. Besides, the mobiles really look much better on the new style not the old vB one.

There is no reason for new arrivals or mobile users to see the 10 year old vB3 style. For those of us used to the old style, this one helps a lot. (I'm using vb fluid myself), but, we have to allow the new style for new people.

I'm getting this in Seamonkey allowing sites to set own font preferences:

OMG, must have missed this, I have just switched to it (still testing), but it´s looking way better now. :D

I´m very relieved, the standard theme was quite horrible.
