which is the best way to avoid windows 7 to see another ssd with an os installed?

i removed the drive letters of the another ssd with w8.1 pro
i don't want to install a boot manager and i haven't it
to boot w8.1 i use the bios

is the only way to remove the drive letter of the 2 partitions of w8.1 ?

can not disable via device manager

Use a boot manager and don't have the other OS in the MBR. Then it "doesn't exist" as far as the booted OS is concerned.

Why are you avoiding using one?

 

You don't want to see disk at all or just don't want to be able to exlore it? If the second option is what you want, you can use ACL to block access for Win7 users to files on that drive.

You can disable the sata port of the disk in the device manager.

honestly i don't like boot managers
why do you think in the w7 mbr or w8 there are information about the os?

 

I've used dual boot setup few times and never had any problems in either of OS. I don't think you have to worry about it.

BIBM, a boot manager, is my most used and valued application.

That information is the partition table. If the partition table of the non booted OS "doesn't exist" then the non booted OS "doesn't exist" as far as the booted OS is concerned.

I know you have had several issues by allowing the OS to see each other. OS crosstalk can't happen if the OS can't see each other.

i got several several several (i can't even count) about a file, this happen only when i have my ssd with w7 plugged

 

Open Computer Management > Disk Management and you'll see the W8 disk partitions (like my H: drive)
Right click on each W8 partition in the lower pane and click "Offline"
That partition will no longer appear in the top pane or in Explorer.

All done... (see the screenshots).

 

He has W7 installed on one ssd and W8 on a second ssd and has left both connected so that both are visible in Explorer.
He changes the boot order in Bios rather than use a boot manager.
He wants an easy way to hide the 'other' OS drive so that he doesn't screw up something.
English is not his native language and telling him to "disable" the drive is not the same thing as telling him to set the drive "offline", he doesn't understand and therefore needs to have exact word(s) that Windows uses (and pictures too if possible).

but JV in explorer when i 'm under w7 i can't see in explorer the w8 partitions because i set the drive letter Empty , i did the same with w8 i set the w7's partition letter empty
