    GUI, GUI, GUI ...

    So many complaints about GUI.

    I guess this beta runs smoother than final releases of some other companies.

    Horrible GUI. Almost as bad as Malwarebytes 2.0

    True, neither is much to look at but I'm sure this one will change. I think MBAM 2 is close to done.

    Its a shame though for Kaspersky because they always had/have the BEST GUIS of any suite in my opinion.. but I think your probably right about them changing it.

    The UI grows on you after using it a little. I was really tired of the excessive green. Build 15.0.0.284 has been released for testing. This one seems highly unstable. An app crash followed by a BSOD. :(

    Well, GUI is important. :rolleyes:

    I would have probably bought SpyShelter if it wasn´t for the GUI, which makes it unhandy to operate, to give an example. :)

    Build 15.0.0.463 is signed as a technical release: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=294846
    Official release will be posted on the website in the coming weeks, after all the documentation and, if need be, patches are ready. If you want a sneak peek, take a look in the beta section and download the 15.0.0.463 Release candidate build.

    It seems a decent build but I'm waiting for something that can be activated with a retail license.

    Any news on this?

    List of new/improved features:

    1. Anti-camfecting

    Any person wants to be secured against one’s personal life interference. One of the methods of user identity stealing (via making photo or video capturing) is to watch anything within the webcam's field of vision, sometimes the webcam owner itself. This method calls camfecting - the fraudulent process of attempting to hack into a person's webcam and activate it without the webcam owner's permission.

    KIS 2015 provides protection from such kind of interference and gives user the capability to control PC installed applications access to web camera (external or build-in device) activation in order to secure from cybercriminalists spying

    2. Wi-Fi connection service

    KIS 2015 helps to verify Wi-Fi network you choose for connection on vulnerabilities and provides a safety connection tune-up tool in order to protect user during Wi-Fi connection processing:

    - Product automatically identifies which network category you are going to access (Home or Public);
    - Checks access point security level in order to eliminate any cybercriminalists interception;
    - Provides information on the risks which may arise choosing the unsecured Wi-Fi connection and solutions for setup correction.

    KIS 2015 allows a secured Wi-Fi connection is settled and your personal data and digital identity exchange is protected from malicious person unauthorized access and use:

    - Wi-Fi internal resources access is protected;
    - Internet connection is safe from cybercriminalists employment;
    - Wi-Fi network traffic is secured from hacking and scrutinizing.

    It can be specified in the following path: Settings->Protection center->Firewall

    3. Usability

    KAV/KIS 2015 became more user friendly in terms of information accessibility, visibility and communication. The fine-tuned interface navigation and reporting services are provided, such as:

    - Improved Safe Money and Parental Control interfaces
    - Easy settings import/ export while upgrading the product
    - Easy features navigation and interaction including color stimulation
    - Multiselect is available in reports with copying to clipboard opportunity
    - Multiselect is available in some settings (f.e. Application management) with copying to clipboard and control opportunities
    - System applications are not shown by default in Application management window
    - More informative protection status and activity reporting. ‘Notification center’ tab is added behind status bar, which provides detailed info on:
    o Protection status
    o Protection components activation status
    o Database update status
    o Lisensing information

    4. Product installation and distributive size

    KAV/KIS 2015 has a series of improvements in product installer in order to enhance product performance and facilitate more efficient traffic flow. Adjustment was provided for the following KAV/KIS 2015 components:

    - Anti-spam functionality is switched-off by default. It might be turned on when necessary upon user click in product menu: Settings->Protection center->Anti-Spam
    - Kaspersky Virus Removal Toll and Kaspersky Rescue Disk Wizard utilities were removed from product installer. Product provides the Knowledge base link for downloading instructions and informs the user on what needs to be done to the infected PC for recovering.
    - Kaspersky Gadget isn’t supported for KAV/KIS 2015
    - .Net distributive was removed from installation package

    5. Socialization

    Socialization is a new part of functionality which is currently available in KIS 2015. There are 2 key parts of Socialization:

    - “Protect a friend” – allows user to earn and collect points by sharing installation links with friends and then exchange those points for the bonus activation codes;
    - “Badges” – acquires personal identity which can be shared on social networking sites.

    6. Protection technologies and performance improvements

    The webcam protection is the most interesting feature IMO.
    WiFi protection explanation is kind of vague. It seems they warn when you access an unencrypted network and perhaps also one with weak protection(WEP.)
    Some wording also seems to imply VPN, but it's too vague to be sure.

    I've seen no evidence of the advanced settings returning, and it is reported on their forums that the latest build has been signed off as TR so I wouldn't get my hopes up. I could care less though so overall it looks good to me. I haven't been able to test out the WiFi thing as I have only installed it on a virtual machine. I will hold off on the real machine until I can activate with a retail license. Hopefully soon.

    KAV/KIS Final has been released on global website: http://www.kaspersky.com/product-updates
    Patch A has also been released on public servers, so you'll see "a" next to the version number after first update and reboot.

    KAV/KIS/KTS MR1 beta is ongoing, with some of the advanced options returned. Latest beta build as of now is 15.0.1.130.

    Wow! Doesn't this news deserve its own thread?

    The new Kaspersky's 2015 lineup has finally arrived! :thumb:

    Maybe the mods can rename this thread to "Beta/Final", so as not to have 2 ongoing topics for Kaspersky. Beta threads can be stale and boring, so might as well liven it up... :)

    Glad to see someone interested in how it works and protects instead of how it looks! :thumb:

    Yeah, I was tempted to open a new headline but yes I guess it's better to rename this one...

    Haha I guess the gui thing is a matter of the past when AVs were emerging and life was easier to live :D PC security nowadays has become top priority since you can have your wallet emptied in a blink of an eye rather than having files deleted or corrupted :)

    This is the best version of KIS in a long time. I am not particularly a fan of any recent products but this one is highly recommended by me.

    What's new in Kaspersky Internet Security 2015

    Updates and new features:
    • Protection against interception of private data on connection to a public Wi-Fi network has been added. Users are now warned when connecting to unprotected Wi-Fi networks.
    • Webcam access control has been added.
    • The Safe Money component now features Clipboard protection.
    • Enhanced web browser compatibility:
      • Mozilla Firefox 28.x.
      • Internet Explorer 11.
      • Google Chrome versions 33.x, 34.x, and 35.x.

    • Protection against unauthorized capture of screenshots in the Safe Money mode has been improved. The Hypervisor, DirectX®, and OpenGL technologies are used to enhance protection against screenshots.

    • Parental Control functionality has been enhanced: the list of websites covered by Safe Search has been expanded.
    • The application's performance in the Trusted Applications mode has been improved.
    • Improvements to the Trusted Applications mode: applications are controlled at the initial stage of the system startup; .NET applications are now protected.
    • Application performance has been improved and computer resource consumption has been optimized.
    • Less time is now required to start Kaspersky Internet Security 2015.
    • The product upgrade process has been improved.
    • The size of the Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 installation package has been reduced.
    • Enabling Secure Keyboard Input no longer requires a restart after the installation of the application.

    Does anyone know if the WiFi vulnerability notification feature does anything other than warning that it's unprotected?

    No, as there's no VPN-like functionality.
