    I've been playing with peekthrough
    http://www.lukepaynesoftware.com/projects/peek-through/

    Process Explorer
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

    Preme
    http://www.premeforwindows.com/

    Extra Buttons
    http://www.xtrabuttons.com/

Preme and Buttons seem to add some decent additions, but for the laptop the preme offers only a portion without the use of the mouse wheel (haven't tested it on the desktop) Process explorer is a nice tool and peek through is pretty nifty as I like my taskbar transparent and make a quick touch of seeing a window behind others.

What are you testing or content with?

Ditto is the only autostart tray icon that's not Microsoft/OEM software or included in my security setup. :D

I decided to give Classic Shell a try recently, however, I've already grown too accustomed to the Start Screen. The only thing I miss about the Start Menu is the convenient shutdown button.

The shutdown button in Win 8 is also convenient. Two clicks were required for restart, log off and shutdown in previous OS. Two clicks are also needed for restart, sleep and shutdown in Win 8. ;)

I've been giving PortableApps QupZilla a bit of a work out the past three weeks or so. I have discovered a lot about customising the GUI & how to add various filters to its very good inbuilt adblocker. I still haven't figured out how to add the Hunspell spell checker though. I have got it to run certain BBC video files I like to watch on some of their pages. Even with added RSS feeds, bookmarks & blocking/tracking filters it is still only around 54 MB!

Either way, QupZilla is going to be a serious contender in the future if you ask me.

You're welcome. I haven't tried the local drive version yet. It is a really good portable on a pendrive though.

I also gave it a try recently, I liked what it offered, simple yet detailed enough to allow you to customize multiple aspects. I'd like to see skins in the customized realm to allow pictures or custom art to be displayed in the background. But classic shell gets a :thumb: for me

Playing around with Vsee, a Skype alternative/replacement. Although not a security app, I am looking to replace Skype due to privacy issues.
