I already have Net Framework v4 installed, so I wasn't going to risk it considering the problems I had installing it back at the end of July to run VS.

molhopicante and Tarnak, sorry about all of that, I should have just corrected the installer first. Let me see what I can do, it might take a little time. You both did the exact right thing btw. But let me fix the installer and get a new version out. I did not foresee this issue, sorry. I thought it would look for 3.5 and think it was already installed, then just install VS 1.28.

You should be able to install the link I just provided, and it should not prompt you to install .net. It should just do a super quick VS install over the top of the old VS. If you have any problems though, please let me know.

    I used the link.

Theoretically it works for me but when ask me for registration, and i put the eMail and password give a popup saying:
"Sorry, an error occurred while confirming your registration".

As i can not perform authentication, VS turns off.

But before that, the icon apears normally.

Are you sure your firewall is not blocking VS? Mine always asks for every update.

You already have .net 4.0 installed, right? I think you had a lot of problems with .net, right? I will put the files on the server, you can download them. All you have to do is to copy and paste them into C:\Program Files\VoodooShield.

Sorry that .net can be a pain sometimes. We are hoping to move away from it soon.

OK, please try this, it is the same link as above, just complied with my updated computer. I have never been a fan of windows updates because they always seem to break something. Mac is no different. I bought a mini mac 2 years ago, brought it home, plugged it in, booted it. It updated, rebooted and then crashed because of an update ;).

Anyway, if this does not work, I can try to compile it one of my other computers. What OS are you running? I can compile on XP, 7 and 8. It is not supposed to matter, but you never know.

Anyway, please let me know, thank you!

TH, I really hope you got that joke, I was totally kidding!!!

I had to stop using VS because it began blocking crucial drivers, and services. My machine became completely unstable. It would reboot, log me out, or I would get a BSOD. I had run VS in learning mode for 12 hours, and it still blocked them. Also like you said some processes were being blocked due to VS not being able to discover there paths. The paths would show up blank. I also got the .Net Framework error that several others have reported here. I saved all the logs, and everything. I was going to send you a bug report on it, but I had almost no internet access for over 2 weeks due to an incompetent ISP. I kept everything so if you want me to send the data I can.

That is just the way .net was on XP. It is much, much better on 7 and 8... they finally got it right. It is just extremely buggy on XP. When we started developing VS 2.5 years ago, we went with 3.5 because it is native to Windows 7, and XP did not have any .net preinstalled. .net 3.5 sp1 was quite stable overall, but it was super stable with 7. And we figured most people would move to 7 because it is truly amazing, but not as many people moved to 7 as we thought.

But I have had many, many problems with .net, like with Quickbooks for example. On an XP machine, if .net goes bad and breaks Quickbooks, pretty much no one can fix it... not MS, not Intuit, not the local computer guy. You pretty much just have to reinstall XP.

Hey, how are you? You have like 6 computers or something, right? Do you just have an issue with VS on 1 computer or all of them? I would think that if it runs bad on all of your computers, it is another software that is conflicting with VS, and I would love to figure out what it is. If it is just one computer, I would think there is a very good chance it is a hardware issue.

I have around 500 or so client computers that run VS, and honestly, not one acts up. There are issues and bugs from time to time, but that is just the nature of software development. So we fix the issue and move on. Besides, since you guys help me work out most of the bugs in beta versions, my clients and VS's customers hardly ever see bugs. We get around 1 support emails every 2 weeks and 90% of the time it is because they cannot find their password or are having trouble with the shopping cart on our website.

Anyway, please let me know what you think!

You said in post #2964 that you will put the files that I need on the server, and all I had to do was copy them in to program folder for VS. Not sure what you mean? Are they in that link, I need to download?

Btw.. I just thought I would wait until VS runs as a service, and see if that remedys the problems I am experiencing. I don't want to waste too much of your time having you fix these bugs because once VS is ran as a service we will likely see new bugs introduced. Once those new bugs have been ironed out things should run pretty smooth then.
