I happen to stumble over this as I was interested in encrypting files and partitions. It is very easy to create an encrypted container or partition but the benefit is that it is based on the dm-crypt kernel module. Going forward, I would like the developer to offer more crypto options. Creating a LUKS encrypted partition is nice becuase it is recognized on boot by Linux distros.

Here's a screenshot of the encryption info:

zuluCrypt is a front end to cryptsetup and tcplay and it is a tool that make it easy to manage LUKS,PLAIN and TRUECRYPT encrypted volumes through a GUI and a simpler to use CLI interface.

zuluCrypt can manage encrypted volumes residing in regular files,LVM and mdraid devices as well as regular block devices and partitions.

zuluMount zuluMount is a front end to zuluCrypt and its meant to be used as a general purpose tool that mount and unmount zuluCrypt supported encrypted volumes as well as unencrypted volumes and it can be used as a substitute to udisks, pmount and related tools.

zuluMount-gui is ideal for use as a desktop environment/file manager independent tool for mounting/unmounting encrypted and unencrypted volumes.

    Hi,
    current maintainer of zuluCrypt here.

Next version(4.7.3) will be released on the first of october,2014 and this version adds ability to choose different crypto
    options when creating a volume.

Supported cryto options are listed here[1].

The first condition is for plain dm-crypt volumes, second condition for luks volumes and last one for truecrypt volume.

I hope your favorite options are on the list and thanks for introducing my project to this forum.

Excellent, I've been using ZuluCrypt and Tomb for a while now and its one of the things that are installed first on any OS.

Initially,i did not add the ability to change crypto properties because i though nobody changes them and the
addition will just clutter the UI and unnecessarily cause confusion.

But people kept making requests for the ability and after getting "yet another request" yesterday,i decided
to release the new version with the ability.

You can hence get the ability now by using released version 4.7.3 and you can get
    it from here: https://github.com/mhogomchungu/zuluCrypt/releases

images the show the UI exposing the functionality are below:
