    They need to cut down on the processes and memory use. It was pretty much unusable on my XP box. Yahoo messenger crashed and my machine slowed down to a crawl. On my Vista laptop performance improved a little bit, but I think I will stick with Sandboxie for the time being.

    I agree. ForceField has a lot of processes and uses quite a bit of memory. If AV developers can trim down their processes to two, Checkpoint should be able to do the same for ForceField.

    Out of curiosity how many processes do you see and what is the total memory usage? Here is basically unnoticeable (VISTA and 4GB of RAM)

    Overall 16.6 MB
    2 ISWMGR.EXE --> 11MB
    1 ForceForce.exe --> 2.8 MB
    1. ISWSVC.exe --> 2.8 MB

    What about other similar solutions (e.g. sandboxie) how much do they consume?

    Cheers,

    When I tested ZA ForceField (Vista, 2GB RAM), it had 4 processes and used about the same amount of memory as the one you posted.

    Sandboxie is lighter than ForceField and covers more applications. If I remember correctly, there are 4 processes when you run an application inside, though the memory usage is low.

    Uuuhm, then there is something more than memory usage since 16MB over 2 GIGA is 0.0...% of memory usage :), and even if it could use less memory... I am not sure what could be the real impact.

    Probably its more an issue on how well it works on a system rather then its memory usage.

    Any tried it,s viurtualization? How strong it is against malware?
    I tried some samples and allowed all pop ups. Did not notice any virtualization though. I missed something I think.

    For a program that is made to sandbox browsers specifically, 4 processes is quite a lot. NIS 2009 uses less memory, so ForceField can definitely lower that down. Also, when a browser is run inside ForceField the memory usage is higher than usual. For example, when I ran Firefox with 3 tabs open(no add-ons), it used about 150MB of RAM.

    uuuhm, strange... I still have exactly same memory usage with both IE7 (4 tabs) and FF3 (4 tabs)... may be its because I am using ZAFF latest beta version (1.2.74.0)? Certanly I am very far from 150MB.

    And again less memory than 16MB is not going to change much on a system with 2GIGA or more.

    Uuuhm.. thanks... not here (may be I have been lucky :) ). At least not with the latest beta versions (earlier versions were indeed eating up to 150MB, including the IE/FF executable)

    If you are helping them in beta testing you may want to report the issue.
