One of the brightest statements i've even seen posted on the forum :thumb: and hope the AV lovers finally get it ;) Meaning - just because your favorite scanner(s) say your clean doesn't necessarily mean you are clean!

Av's are like doctors. It never hurts to get a second opinion.

This brings to mind a question. How can I get a keylogger which may sit undetected for awhile?

Are key-loggers hidden in installation programs?

AVs are like doctors. Sometimes they give you the wrong diagnosis.

The operation was a success but the patient died.

(And you still get the bill. )

Hey, what happened to my "piling on" penalty?

I wanted to know if we were playing by CFL or NFL rules and if I could throw the challenge flag?

Back on topic...I thought Zemana seemed like a slick little program when I tested it but I found that it conflicted with PrivateFirewall (with HIPS module deactivated) and as a result didn't pass its own anti-logging tests.

Also tested with Zemana's protection module deactivated (PF"s HIPS activated), and only their anti-keylogger module running. Still no joy.

This was on an XP Pro SP3 setup.

(So I'm happily back with OA where I can get FW, HIPS and excellent logging protection all in one place.)

Is this redundant with Eset NOD32 AV which has "threatsense" behavior detection?

I don't think so. Zemana goes further and, according to MGR tests, does a better job.

Zemana usually does pretty good in the MGR test. I installed it through the GAOTD offer and it is light and is working well with everything else. So far I like it. The interface is slick too.

Thanks. I'm also running WinPatrol in real time as an extra layer of protection. Does Zemana make that unnecessary? Or vice versa?

They will run nicely together, both are lightweight if that is a criterium. In the screenshot an alert from Zemana where WinPatrol keeps quiet.

Thanks. I'm not sure "lightweight" applies to Zemana. Here is memory consumption as I'm seeing it on Win7 32bit after a cold boot.
    Code:
    Zemana 23,532K
    Eset AV 1,988K
    WinPatrol 1,780K

I have PrivateFirewall and Zemana passed the test just fine on my computer.

that literally shows absolutely nothing about the products performance...

I agree. I wasn't talking about performance. I was saying that the term "lightweight" might not be appropriate.

BTW those figures are just the Private Memory (physical memory that cannot be used by other processes).

That said, the memory used by ESET is not what I said. I inadvertantly listed egui.exe instead of ekrn.exe. The actual Private Memory used by ESET NOD32 AV is 60,148K.

    Sorry for the error.

Good to know and to have another data point. :thumb:

I tested a few months back while I was running an earlier version of PF and Zemana had one of their one year license giveaways.

Since I don't have either loaded at this juncture there's no way for me to test again.

Glad it's working, though. I only offered my experience as a warning of sorts since folks often assume that they're protected with their apps when in fact there may be a not so obvious conflict at some level which actually diminishes their security.

That's what makes some of the info on this site so useful. :thumb:

What's to explain? RAM usage may be a very small (and sometimes insignificant) piece of the whole performance "picture" but it's still a resource and when one product is using more than another I would definitely call one product "heavier" if that was the only info I had. Obviously CPU and Disk IO are important but to negate RAM usage entirely is silly.
