This was 1st rate Stem and Perman.

I was able to use this learning to ask the HIPS question on CFW 2.4.

So, Perman does this mean you drop a HIPS? Sorry couldn't resist the play on words.

I'm thinking maybe I need CFW plus a HIPS but am not sure?

Hi, Escalader: Dropping HIPS? yes and no. McAfee F.W. or ZA pro has application firewall, which I consider as a sort of HIPS, or even for CFW which has the same, plus program component control. I also have prevx2 and winpatrol plus(sort of light duty one). I have tried several times to use cyberhawk, but some compatibility issues have kept me away. I do not like too many pop ups, therefore I did not continue to use SSM free or Pro Security. IMO, HIPS coupled with full time firewall actually will keep bugs away effectively. Have a nice day.
